Woman Arrested, Suspected of Embezzling from Employer

Incident takes place a few days after a Target employee was arrested in a similar charge.

A Novato woman was arrested outside her residence Monday afternoon as a suspect in an embezzlement case involving her employer, the Novato Police Department said.

Nordia Vanessa Rodriguez faces felony charges of grand theft and passing fictitious checks following her arrest at 4:19 p.m. Monday in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard, acting Lt. Jennifer Welch said.

Rodriguez, who listed her occupation as paper delivery when she was booked at Marin County Jail, is accused of forging multiple checks from her employer's business account and making fraudulent payments to pay for personal bills, Welch said. Police tracked down Rodriguez after the employer fired her.

The arrest comes less than a week after an employee at Target was arrested on a felony embezzlement count. Mario Gilberto Ku-Cab, 23, of Novato was accused to stealing more than $5,000 worth of electronic merchandise from the store over several months, Lt. Keith Heiden said. Ku-Cab was arrested inside a store office just after Target fired him on Sept. 13, Heiden said.
