Wife Rams Husband’s Car, Gets Booked for Felony Vandalism

The following information from April 25-28 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

April 27, 6:43 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the vicinity of Wentworth Lane.  The reporting party’s wife ran into his parked car twice while it was parked in the driveway.  He said that his wife had possibly been drinking.  She left in a gray Jeep Commander heading toward Fairway Drive.  The woman was arrested and booked for felony vandalism after she intentionally crashed into her husband’s vehicle several times. 

April 25

6:47 a.m. – Threats were reported on Carnoustie Heights.  A 19-year-old man was harassing his family and the family has a restraining order in place.  The man was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of spousal abuse and vandalism. 

7:27 a.m. – A woman in the 1700 block of Novato Boulevard found the door to her car unlocked and the ignition punched.  The car had been rifled through and the keys to another car and her house were taken.

9:45 a.m. – Shoplifting was reported at Buck’s Saw Service on Grant Avenue.  Surveillance video captured a white man putting hand tools in his pocket just prior to closing.  The estimated loss is $65. 

12:31 p.m. – A driver stopped for failing to obey an arterial sign in the 100 block of Vintage Way was also found to be driving on a suspended license.  The driver’s vehicle was impounded for 30 days. 

3:30 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at the Shell station on Nave Drive.  The reporting party said that three black women grabbed some gum and cookies and then placed them in their bag and left.  Partial license plate numbers to their white sedan were provided to officer(s).  They were last seen northbound on Nave Drive. 

4:16 p.m. – A burglary was reported at the Wyndover Apartments on Diablo Avenue.  The patio sliding door to a residence was found open.  A number of items and some cash were taken from the apartment.  

6:27 p.m. – Vandalism was reported on Bolling Drive.  The reporting party had found all of the tires flattened on her GMC Yukon.  The air stems to all of the tires had been sliced off and thrown onto the reporting party’s car. 

8:44 p.m. – Gunshots were reported heard in the vicinity of Plumas Circle.  A woman said she heard about seven or eight shots but she could not tell from what direction they emanated.  She said that she had yelled out who had been shooting and then it stopped and then she heard one more shot after she went back into her residence.  The area was checked by officer(s), who found that the vicinity quiet on arrival.  Nothing was seen or heard.  There was only the one caller. 

April 26 

1:05 p.m. – An assault and battery was reported in the vicinity of the Safeway store on Nave Drive.  The reporting party said that a woman threw a rock at him after being involved in an argument with her.  Both have gone into the Safeway store.  The woman was cited for battery. 

1:10 p.m. – A grand theft was reported on Madeline Court.  Unknown(s) stole a victim’s pearl necklace from her bedroom.  There were no signs of forced entry and nothing else was missing from the residence.  

3:27 p.m. – A fraud was reported at the Journey Ford dealership in the 6900 block of Redwood Boulevard.  The reporting party said that they had sold a car last May and now a credit company is saying that the person who bought the car had used someone else’s information to get the credit for the purchase.   Journey Ford received a collection letter indicating a customer had used fictitious information. 

4:47 p.m. – An assault and battery was reported at Sinaloa Middle School on Vineyard Road.  A student said that unknown(s) had come up to him and hit him near the school today.  Officer(s) determined that known persons assaulted the juvenile near the school and during the course of the assault one of the attackers took the victim’s backpack containing a cell phone and books without his permission. 

11 p.m. – Extra patrols were requested on Nova Lane.  The reporting party’s vehicle was broken into in San Francisco and an extra set of keys to the house and vehicle were taken.  The reporting party’s vehicle is in the driveway.  The reporting party is requesting extra patrols until he can have the locks changed on the house and vehicle.  The request was routed to beat units. 

April 27 

7:54 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1200 block of Valley Oak Court.  Unknown(s) broke into a red Honda Civic overnight.  A stereo, sunglasses and a small backpack were taken.  There were no signs of a forced entry though the ignition has been tampered with in an apparent attempt to steal the vehicle.  

9:47 a.m. – One was cited for battery in the 1000 block of Seventh Street. 

10:11 a.m. – A reporting party at San Jose Middle School said that a student brought a large amount of pot to school.  The student is in the office now and is cooperative.  The student was cited for possession. 

11:46 a.m. – A reporting party at Marin Oaks High School on Diablo Avenue said that a 17-year-old student was out of control.  It is unknown what set the student off but he is yelling, kicking and pacing.  Officer(s) found that the student was upset over school policy and had an outburst during lunch.  He walked away after security advised him to go to the office.  The student punched a cement wall that resulted in an injured knuckle.  He was transported to Novato Community Hospital and his mother was notified. 

2:22 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Green Oak Drive.  Unknown(s) broke into a locked vehicle overnight and stole a credit card and $160 in cash. 

3:16 p.m. – A reporting party at the Shell gas station in the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard said that a customer was attempting to pass counterfeit bills.  The person is still on scene.  One person was arrested on suspicion of forgery. 

3:55 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the vicinity of Olive Avenue and Robinhood Drive.  The reporting party said that unknown(s) had vandalized a generator and tried to steal the copper wire.  The locked back-up generator had been pried open and two copper wires had been cut in an attempt to steal the copper. 

3:57 p.m. – Identity theft was reported on Portsmouth Drive.  The reporting party said that two people are using her social security number, one of which filed a tax return using her number. 

5:14 p.m. – A report of public drunkenness was made in the 800 block of Grant Avenue.  Five people were apparently involved.  One was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.  The detox center did not have any beds available.  He was taken to Marin County Jail for detention.  

5:33 p.m. – A woman in the 1300 block of Kaehler Street was reportedly in an argument with her daughter.  The woman was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence and violating probation. 

6:52 p.m. – A woman in the 100 block of Los Robles Road said that her husband has been using drugs and he is now accusing her of poisoning him with her prescription medications last night.  She said he had stolen her medications this morning.  The man was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, not using a seatbelt, possession of a controlled substance, and injuring to a spouse. 

7:51 p.m. – A woman said that her daughter had been slapped by a boy at San Jose Middle School yesterday and that she was never informed by the school of the assault.  She requested an attempt to contact the boy’s mother.  She was advised that the boy had been suspended from school and that he was out of town with his father and could not be reached.  Nothing further was requested. 

11:50 p.m. – Two men were reported fighting and throwing rocks at each other in the vicinity of the Circle K gas station on Ignacio Boulevard.   One was arrested and booked on suspicion of public drunkenness. 

April 28 

12:31 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 1600 block of Novato Boulevard.  Unknown(s) threw a decorative cinder block from a neighbor’s yard through the front window of a residence. 

1:02 a.m. – A person in the 1000 block of First Street was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of public drunkenness and detention. 

1:46 a.m. – Extra patrols were requested in the evening hours for the 700 block of Sunset Parkway.  The requesting party was concerned about recent thefts and vandalism in the area.  The reporting party recently had a vehicle window smashed. 

3:21 a.m. – A 17-year-old boy was reportedly passed out in the passenger seat of a vehicle parked in a parking lot in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue.  There are open containers of beer in the center console.  The boy was cited and released for being a minor in possession of alcohol. 

4:59 p.m. – A driver stopped for vehicle code violations in the vicinity of Fourth Street and Grant Avenue was cited and released for driving a vehicle with no visible stop lamps and driving with no license.  His vehicle was also impounded. 

10:56 p.m. – A noise disturbance was reported in the 2200 block of Novato Boulevard.  The reporting party said there was a party on the hill near the archery range but closer to the San Luis side of the hill.  Four kids were cited for public drunkenness and being minors in possession of alcohol.

11:47 p.m. – Reckless driving was reported in the 400 block of Hangar Avenue.  A red sportscar was seen to the rear of Hangar 9 spinning doughnuts close to the back fence of residences.  The driver was contacted but was not seen driving recklessly.  The reporting party could not identify the driver.  The driver was identified, admonished and released.  The passengers were also identified.
