Vintage Oaks Shopper a Little Naughty

... and not so nice in the parking lot.

Last weekend brought another healthy hoard of shoppers to the shopping center in Novato. While it is said that the holiday season tends to bring out the best in people, it is not always the case for the aggressive shopper.  Sometimes that aggression surfaces before the shopper even makes it into the store, like in the parking lot.

Such was the case Dec. 17 when a woman spotted a vacant parking spot that she preferred over the one she already had. The spot must have been closer to the store because she instructed her 8-year-old daughter to stand in it until she returned with her vehicle and pull the car in.

While mom went off to fetch her car, a 60-year-old woman in another car urged the young girl to step aside pulled into the space. The girl’s mother became incensed and called authorities, claiming that the other woman tried to run over her daughter.

The other woman objected and told the responding officer that the girl had run out in front of her car while she was trying to park.

After reviewing the circumstances the officer admonished the mother for putting her daughter in a potentially dangerous situation and was advised to avoid doing so in the future.
