Two Men Rescued From Sinking Boat off Black Point

Coast Guard helicopter plucks men from 17-foot vessel.

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two men from a sinking boat off the Novato shoreline on Saturday night.

At about 7:45 p.m., a man called the Coast Guard from his cell phone to report that his vessel was taking on water near Black Point/Green Point in Novato, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer David Font said.

Helicopter crews were dispatched to the area and found that the 17-foot boat was considerably flooded, according to Font.

Both men on board were pulled off of the vessel and flown to Napa Valley Airport, where the helicopter stopped to refuel, he said.

No injuries were reported and the men were released from the airport in stable condition, Font said.
