Two Arrested in Novato for Possession of Heroin

Selected calls from the log books of Novato PD, April 13-17.

April 13

7:19 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the vicinity of Gateway Court and Novato Boulevard.  A soundwall tagged with gray spray paint.  The resident was painting over the graffiti when Novato PD arrived. 

11:53 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported on Hutchins Way.  A blue/gray 1991 Chevy van was last seen at 8 a.m. that day. The keys were reportedly not with the vehicle.

12:09 p.m. – Fraudulent use of an access card was reported on Harrison Court.  The reporting party suspects his ex-girlfriend was making unauthorized purchases while he was in jail.  He had previously provided his ATM PIN to his girlfriend that gave her access to his checking account. 

12:18 p.m.  – A petty theft was reported at the Safeway store on Nave Drive.  An elderly patron stated that an unknown suspect took his wallet while he was in the deli area. The victim was reported to be upset because he requested that surveillance video be reviewed, but he was advised that this could not be done at that time.

1:05 p.m. – A reporting party stated that a man was possibly sleeping but unresponsive at McDonald’s on Redwood Boulevard.  A subject was booked for public drunkenness and a probation violation. 

1:55 p.m. – An aggravated assault was reported by a 90-year-old resident in the 100 block of San Carlos Way.  The man requested advice about his 58-year-old son who wants to move in with him.  He said his son was divorcing his wife of 30 years and wanted to move in with him because he had no money.  The father does not want his son to move in with him and states that his son is a nuisance.  The man was advised of his rights not to allow his son to move in and was given a senior referral number and advised to call the PD back if needed. 

2:56 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at Costco when a large-build 6-foot-4 white man in his 40s was observed cutting out a digital camera of its packaging and concealing it.  Security contacted the subject in the freezer area.  He was able to pay for his items and was served a “no trespass” letter by Costco. 

3:21 p.m. – A case of elder abuse was reported on Tamalpais Avenue after a 60-year-old woman was caught trying to take items from her mother's room.  The suspect was served with an emergency protection order. 

April 14 

5:32 a.m. – A burglary was reported on Diablo Court.  A resident stated that she heard someone on her roof.  A suspect was booked into Marin County Jail for attempted burglary. 

11:27 a.m. – Vandalism was reported at a business in the 2000 block of Novato Boulevard.  A subject came into the business and confessed to the reporting party that he unplugged a piece of equipment due to civil issues with the reporting party’s employee.  

11:45 a.m. – A resident on the 100 block of Half Moon Road made contact with a truck driver who had just hit the tree fronting the reporting party’s residence.  The driver stated he was with the American Cancer Society but the resident called them and they denied that anyone from ACS was driving a large truck.  License plate information was provided to the PD. 

12:09 p.m. – A driver was reported to be swaying and incoherent in the Nave Shopping Center parking lot. The subject was booked into Marin County Jail for driving under the influence. 

6:37 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported by the Marin Community Clinic after the CVS pharmacy on Grant Avenue notified them that a patient had fraudulently filled a prescription. An unknown party called and identified himself as a doctor from the clinic when the doctor was actually on vacation. 

April 15 

12:33 a.m. – A bus driver reported that he had a very intoxicated subject on board that he could get off the bus.  The subject was cited for possession of marijuana and a probation violation. 

1:29 a.m. – A woman was reported to be under the influence and yelling in the lobby of the Days Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  She was arrested and booked for public drunkenness and for providing false information to a police officer. 

9:49 a.m. – A resident in the 600 block of Arthur Street told a friend that two drunk men were in her garage making a mess and that she was very scared.  The reporting party notified police who booked one subject into the Marin County Jail for public drunkenness. 

11:51 a.m. – A woman in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard reported that twice this week a man driving a dark green Toyota had followed her when she left work.  She believes the man is stalking her.  She stated that the man has used his cell phone twice to take her picture.  She provided the vehicle plate information to police, who contacted the man.  The man said takes pictures of drivers using cell phones while driving. Officer(s) advised the man to stop the practice. 

6:25 p.m. – A reporting party stated that a group that had been drinking were involved in a fight at Slade Park near Manuel Drive.  One subject was booked for public drunkenness.

6:41 p.m. – A Spanish-speaking woman was in the lobby of the police station crying and saying that she was having a problem with her boyfriend.  A translator determined that she wanted to know if she could be tested for alcohol to prove to her boyfriend that she hadn’t been drinking.  She was advised that this was not a service that the department provided. 

7:15 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 1100 block of Mirabella Avenue.  Unknown subject(s) tagged a fence near the back of the old Pini Hardware building.  Damage is approximated at $250. 

9:18 p.m. – A warrant arrest was made at the TraveLodge on Redwood Boulevard.  A subject was booked into Marin County Jail for an outstanding warrant out of Orange County. 

April 16 

9:52 a.m. – Two subjects were arrested at the Days Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  The first subject was booked for an outstanding no-bail warrant and both subjects were booked for possession of heroin. 

12:51 p.m. – An apartment resident on the 1000 block of Eighth Street reported that he had not seen his neighbor in more than week.  He was concerned because of a foul odor coming from the apartment.  The reporting party believes his neighbor passed away in his sleep. The coroner responded to take over the scene. 

2:35 p.m. – A warrant arrest was made in the vicinity of Rowland Boulevard and Vintage Way.  The subject had an outstanding Marin County $5,000 misdemeanor warrant. 

10:14 p.m. – A woman on Mariner Way reported that a neighbor in a downstairs apartment asked her to come down to his apartment window.  The neighbor was cited for indecent exposure. 

April 17 

4:14 a.m. – A woman on Tahoe Circle was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for domestic violence and an outstanding warrant. 

10:44 a.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported on the 1000 block of Eighth Street.  A reporting party’s 9-year-old daughter told the reporting party that a neighbor walked out of her apartment naked and approached the 9-year-old and stated, “You are lucky you are free.”  The woman refused to cooperate or speak with the PD, however her roommate advised that the woman was off her meds and working with a psychiatrist to resolve her issues. 

2:51 p.m. – A female was reported on the ground shaking in the vicinity of First Street and Grant Avenue.  The woman had consumed alcohol and had a seizure.  Officer(s) assisted the fire department and Novato Community Hospital staff with the combative female.  

3:57 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Sequoia Glen Lane.  A woman reported that a laptop was missing from her home and that she suspects that her friend took it.  She was letting a man stay with her but recently made him leave because he was stealing money from her.  

5:04 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Sophia Court.  A bicycle valued at $1150 was taken from an unlocked garage side door the previous evening. 

11:45 p.m. – A subject was arrested and booked for driving under the influence in the 300 block of Enfrente Road.
