Thief Might Have Left Cell Phone Behind

The following information from May 2-5 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

May 2, 9:08 a.m. – A petty theft was reported in the 100 block of Laurelwood Drive.  The reporting party said that unknown(s) broke into his car and took his debit card.  He also found a cell phone in the vehicle that was not his.  The debit card has been cancelled. 

May 2

9:30 a.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported at San Jose Middle School on Sunset Parkway.  A student had been seen arriving at school but was also seen leaving at 8 a.m. The reporting party said that the boy has a history of doing this and had also been recently cited for burglary and truancy.  The boy’s mother was uncooperative but a case was opened to document the suspicious circumstances. 

10:54 a.m. – Identity theft was reported in the 1100 block of Santolina Drive.  The victim’s social security number was used to open accounts with Verizon Wireless, Chase Bank and American Express.

2:02 p.m. – An assault and battery was reported at Novato High School.  The reporting party said that a student threw a pair of scissors trying to hit one student but hit another one in the face.  The reporting party said that a medical response is not needed.  The student is in the office and is cooperative.  Both of the students involved left school before officer(s) arrived. 

9:18 p.m. – Domestic violence was reported in the 100 block of Alameda Del Prado.  The reporting party said that her boyfriend had taken her house keys and will not give them back and he will not answer his door or his cell phone.  The boyfriend was arrested on suspicion of injuring a cohabitant. 

May 3 

9:29 a.m. – A harassment incident was reported at a place of business in the 1100 block of Grant Avenue.  The reporting party said that a co-worker is harassing him at work by touching him.  He reported the incident to his boss and is requesting to make a report.  Both parties were contacted and they provided conflicting statements.  Both signed private person arrest forms and were cited for sexual battery. 

11:22 a.m. – Public drunkenness was reported in the 100 block of Bolling Circle.  A 14-year-old girl left for school at 7:45 a.m. but is reported to not have attended any classes today.  The girl will not answer her cell phone.  She was later booked into Marin County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of being drunk in public. 

1:27 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 200 block of Vintage Way.  Unknown(s) keyed the driver’s side of the victim’s black Infiniti G35.  The reporting party said that a customer also had her car keyed recently. 

6:50 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 900 block of Sherman Avenue.  The reporting party said that a city owned building has been gone through.  It appears that homeless people have been accessing the building and moving things around.  Discarded food was also found left behind.  There are no signs of forced entry but a request has been made to change the door locks.  Extra patrols were also requested. 

7:19 p.m. – Two boys were reportedly seen passing a pipe behind the tennis courts at Pioneer Park on Simmons Lane.  One was cited for possession of marijuana.  Both boys were released to their parents custody. 

8:23 p.m. – Identity theft was reported on Marin Valley Drive.  Unknown(s) used the victim’s personal information to order a Sony PlayStation over the Internet. 

May 4 

12:20 a.m. – One was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of Eucalyptus Avenue and Mendocino Lane.   The driver was also cited for running a stop sign. 

8:29 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1100 block of Elm Drive.  The reporting party said that a laptop went missing after her daughter had friends over on Monday afternoon.  The loss is estimated at $630. 

9:26 a.m. – A health and safety violation was reported at San Marin High School.  An 18-year-old was reported to be in the school office and found to be in possession of marijuana and a scale.  He was cited and released for possession of marijuana on school grounds. 

9:33 a.m. – An identity theft was reported in the 1100 block of Cambridge Street.  Unknown(s) used the victim’s debit card to make an unauthorized purchase online.  The loss is $500. 

11:49 a.m. – An assault with a deadly weapon was reported at San Marin High School.  A 14-year-old girl said that she was cut in the face by a boy wearing a black and red letterman’s jacket with the words “Skinny Jeans” on the back.  She said the boy cut her with a razor blade while she was in the girls room. The girl said that he threatened to slit her throat if she screamed. For a full story on this incident, click .

2:31 p.m. – A verbal disturbance was reported on San Marin Drive.  A man and a woman were in a verbal argument over a road rage incident.  Both parties were contacted and both reported the incident that started on the freeway.  The female driver thought that she was being followed, which is why she was driving so fast.  The woman had a valid license and did not appear to be under the influence. 

May 5 

1:52 a.m. – A man was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of public drunkenness in the vicinity Bolling Drive and Marin Valley Drive. 

4:08 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 1500 block of Center Road.  A woman was sleeping in her dark green Nissan Quest when two people tried to break into it.  When they realized someone was in the van they took off but came back later with a rock and attempted to break the window.  

8:05 a.m. – A woman was involved in a collision with a building in the vicinity of Charmaine Court.  She was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

9:06 a.m. – A burglary was reported at Lu Sutton Elementary School.  Unknown(s) broke into a snack shack and stole a cash register.  

9:58 a.m. – Found property was reported in the vicinity of Novato Boulevard and Tamalpais Avenue.  A large red food cooler was found containing food.  The police booked it into evidence. 

10:42 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 200 block of Posada Del Sol.  Unknown(s) broke into a victim’s black Toyota Corolla overnight.  The loss included a watch, sunglasses, and iPod and CDs. 

12:01 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 200 block of Posada Del Sol.  Unknown(s) broke into a victim’s vehicle overnight and stole a knife and $70 in cash.  The loss is about $120. 

3:05 p.m. – A fraud was reported on Stonetree Lane.  Unknown(s) were using a victim’s name and attempted to obtain credit.
