Theft of Donation Box Caught on Surveillance Video

The following information from Nov. 10-12 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

Nov. 12, 8:55 p.m. – A donation box was taken from a counter top at the Circle K gas station on Ignacio Boulevard.  A Hispanic woman in a brown jacket took the donations at 7:12 p.m.  Staff has surveillance video of the theft.

12:37 a.m. – An aggravated assault was reported at America’s Best Value Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  A woman could be heard yelling and screaming and it is believed she had been drinking.  A man is also in the room trying to calm her down.  The woman was booked into Marin County Jail for domestic battery. 

2:56 a.m. – An assault and battery was reported on Carnoustie Heights.  The reporting party said a guy with a restraining order is fighting with every one in the house.  The reporting party disconnected when asked to identify themselves.  The reporting party said they were punched in the face.  A man was arrested and booked for battery.

8:45 a.m. – A suspicious subject was reported at the Shell gas station in the 2000 block of Novato Boulevard.  A white man with a mustache wearing a black baseball cap and a blue and white sweatsuit had been soliciting door to door from the merchants at the Square shopping center.  He was seen to have approached a woman and then started to yell at her.  The man was contacted and was advised; he was not soliciting anything. 

10:47 a.m. – A petty theft was reported on Encina Court after two white boys about 15 to 17 years of age were seen in the area.  One boy with blonde hair and red clothing was on foot while the other boy with dark hair was riding a red bike.  The reporting party said a hatchet had been taken. 

5:18 p.m. – A citizen reported that there was about 15 kids loitering in the pit area of Lee Garner Park behind the library on Novato Boulevard.  The reporting party said he had twice smelled marijuana coming from the area during the day.  A group of kids was contacted who were sitting around talking.  No violations were observed. 

6:35 p.m. – Staff at the 7-Eleven store on Diablo Avenue called to complain about six Hispanic men and three black men about 18 to 20 years of age who had attempted a petty theft last week.  The incident had resulted in a physical altercation between employees and the suspects.  Staff requested a show of police presence.  The group was gone on arrival. 

8:03 p.m. – A white woman about 45 years of age was reportedly threatening another guest and kicking doors at the Days Inn on Redwood Boulevard.  She later got in an argument with a man.  The woman was booked for public drunkenness. 

8:52 p.m. – A group of drunken men and women are yelling in the 500 block of Alameda Del Prado.  One person is passed out on the ground.  One was arrested for public drunkenness and taken to a detox center.

9:47 p.m. – About six or seven kids on foot are trying to open vehicle doors in the vicinity of Sixth Street and Grant Avenue.  They were last seen wearing hoodies and hooded Raiders jackets.  They are also pounding on windows.  The group was gone on arrival and could not be located. 

Nov. 11 

9:09 a.m. – A burglary was reported at the Silver Penny RV Park on Redwood Boulevard.  A touch pad computer was taken from an unlocked trailer.  The loss is about $400. 

10:28 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the Hamilton Marketplace parking lot.  An iPhone and a tote bag were taken after unknown(s) broke the window of a silver Honda.  The total loss is estimated at $525. 

2:18 p.m. – Staff at a store on Vintage Way reported a solicitor for New Life Ministries trying to collect money.  The solicitor was described as a black man in his mid 20s wearing a dark baseball cap and a dark sweatshirt.  Staff asked him to leave but he is refusing.  The store holds an injunction against solicitors.  Parties were advised. 

7:25 p.m. – A harassment incident was reported on Oak Crest Court.  A woman has been receiving 20 to 30 calls per day from a 25-year-old man.  There is an ongoing history of calls that goes back several months.  He was booked into jail in October and the calls have continued.  She called the jail today and also had her number blocked but she is now receiving more calls.  Advice was provided. 

Nov. 12 

1:11 a.m. – A driver was booked for driving under the influence in the vicinity of hill Road and Redwood Boulevard. 

7:13 a.m. – Two kids were arrested for receiving stolen goods and conspiracy in the vicinity of Bruno Street and East Court.  They were transported and released to the custody of Marin County Juvenile Hall. 

9:44 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 100 block of Landing Court.  Unknown(s) entered the victim’s storage locker sometime between June 16 and yesterday and took gold coins and old clocks. 

11:21 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 300 block of Alameda Del Prado.  Unknown(s) broke a lock to a storage unit in a carport area overnight.  The total loss is yet to be determined. 

3 p.m. – A grand theft was reported on Hamilton Drive.  A Johnson’s outboard boat motor was stolen from the back of a victim’s truck overnight.  The loss is estimated to be $750. 

6:27 p.m. – An intoxicated man in the 1700 block of Grant Avenue said he was jumped by an unknown and that his cell phone and stuff was burned.  He said the incident occurred at the “pit” in Lee Garner Park. 

9:54 p.m. – An assault was reported at an establishment in the 800 block of Grant Avenue.  Two white men in their early 20s entered the restaurant and one was asked to leave after presenting a fake ID.  He then pushed and spit on the reporting party.  The aggressor was last seen wearing a black jacket, he was 5-foot-8 with a thin build, and he had an abrasion on his face.  The reporting party did not wish to place the man under citizen’s arrest for battery.
