Teens and Booze Making News

Selected calls from the log books of Novato PD, May 12-15.

May 12 

12:43 p.m. – Officer(s) issued two citations to two students who were being held in the San Marin High School office for graffiti vandalism to school bathrooms.  They had pens in their possession and they admitted to the taggings.   

3:37 p.m. – A man in a painter’s truck with two dogs in the back drove into the Chevron station on Rowland Way and was reported to have yelled at someone for looking at him. He appeared to have been drinking and was very agitated.  He was booked for driving under the influence and for driving with fraudulent license plates/tags.

4:17 p.m. – Four kids on skateboards and bikes were reported throwing items onto the highway in the vicinity of Alice Street and Franklin Avenue.  All were identified and admonished and the parents were notified. 

6:30 p.m. – A man in the 400 block of Entrada Drive reported that a woman followed him through the parking lot of his apartment complex yelling and swearing at him for no reason.  He got in his car to drive away and the woman continued to scream at him and follow him on foot.   The reporting party requested advice about a schizophrenic neighbor who was acting odd.  Officer(s) were unable to contact the woman as she refused to answer her door.  While officer(s) stood by the woman was heard yelling in her apartment that she hates Oprah.  The reporting party was advised to contact the police department again if necessary.

May 13 

1:55 a.m. – A reporting party in the 1000 block of Green Oak Drive said there was a person in his apartment with a knife.  A man was booked into Marin County Jail for grand theft auto, receiving stolen property, criminal trespassing and brandishing a weapon.  For a story on this call, click .

7:04 a.m. – A burglary was reported at Journey Ford on Redwood Boulevard.  Unknown(s) entered the service building over night and stole a flat screen TV and several thousand dollars worth of tools. 

 9:43 a.m. – A burglary was reported at a beauty salon in the 800 block of Grant Avenue.  The reporting party had been noticing money missing from the cash box over the last two weeks but initially wasn’t sure if it might have been used for business purposes.  Total loss is about $1,000. 

12:52 p.m. – Four girls from Novato High School were cited for alcohol violations after being found at Arroyo Avichi Park with two bottles of vodka by the principal and staff members.  One girl was so drunk she could not walk. 

2:33 p.m. – Vandalism was reported at San Jose Middle School after staff had found that unknown(s) had gained access to the snack shack by breaking the door frame.  Loss is unknown at this time. 

3:30 p.m. – Vandalism was reported after a disgruntled contractor tore up a retaining wall on Stonetree Lane after he tried to collect more money for the job despite that there was a written contract.  Damage is estimated at $1,000.

5:45 p.m. – A reporting party at the Vintage Oaks Shopping Center said that a group of teens had surrounded a person lying on the ground and that the situation appeared to be a medical emergency.  One teen was cited for public drunkenness and released to the teen’s parents. 

7:39 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 700 block of Cherry Street after a resident arrived home and found that unknown(s) had thrown a rock through the rear window of the victim’s vehicle.  Damage is estimated at $500. 

7:39 p.m. – A man who had passed out on a bus in the vicinity of Olive Avenue and Redwood Boulevard was arrested and booked for public drunkenness. 

9:46 p.m. – An elderly woman was reported to be walking in the street and didn’t know where she lived.  She was found and transported back to the Tamalpais Creek assisted care home.  Staff was asked to keep a better watch on her for her safety.  The woman’s stepdaughter was in contact with management at the home. 

9:57 p.m. – A felony warrant arrest was made in the vicinity of Canyon Road and Hill Road after medical clearance was obtained for Marin County Jail. For a story on this incident, click .

May 14 

2:21 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Ignacio Lane when the victim found that the victim’s vehicle had been broken into over night and $500 in cash was taken.  A suspect left a backpack with identifying information in the vehicle. 

5:23 p.m. – Two women were arrested and booked for burglary and conspiracy at a Vintage Oaks store.  

6:45 p.m. – A vehicle was reported burglarized overnight in the 400 block of Entrada Drive.  Loss is undetermined at this time. 

7:16 p.m. – A petty theft was reported at the CVS store on Grant Avenue.  A minor was cited for being in possession of alcohol. 

11:36 p.m. – Two men at the Days Inn on Redwood Boulevard were reported to be upset because they were refused a room for $50.  The men refused to leave. One was arrested and booked for three outstanding Sonoma County warrants. 

May 15 

10:47 a.m. – An employee of Marin Fitness was reportedly sexually assaulted while at work by a member of the gym.  The gym member came behind the desk area and fondled the victim, according to the victim. A sexual battery report was filed. 

12:51 p.m. – Santa Rosa Police Department requested that a parole be taken into custody in the 1600 block of Center Road.  The man was picked up and released to Santa Rosa PD regarding charges in Santa Rosa. 

1:34 p.m. – A person was arrested and booked for domestic violence in the 1100 block of Highland Drive after throwing a victim down the stairs. 

7:01 p.m. – A man was arrested and booked for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the 500 block of Alameda del Prado. 

10:10 p.m. – A missing boy was reported on Andreas Circle.  His mother said he had been missing for over two hours and that he had been battling depression.  He was located by San Rafael Police Department.
