Surprised Prowler Dashes Off on Stolen Bike

The following information from Feb. 14-15 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner:

3:33 a.m. – A resident on the 1100 block of First Street awoke and surprised an unknown short, slender man wearing a baseball hat who had entered the house.  The man, caught off-guard, immediately exited, leaving his black gloves behind, and then stole a black and red Trek bicycle.

11:36 a.m. – A student at the Hill Education Center on Diablo Avenue was cited for battery as a result of allegedly pushing a teacher.

6:52 p.m. – A resident on the 1400 block of Donna Street reported that the sliding glass door at the rear of the residence had been smashed during the day and the home was rummaged through.

7:18 p.m. – Police responded to a call on the 1400 block of South Novato Boulevard about a person trying to start a fight with another. One person was arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and for two outstanding warrants.

8:14 p.m. – A wallet was found at South Novato boulevard and Yukon Way and returned to its owner.

8:47 p.m. – A resident on Fernbridge Place reported hearing a female neighbor yelling “He’s hitting me, I have bruises” and that there is a history of verbal arguments there.  Police responded and subsequently arrested the man for alleged battery.

Feb. 15

1:57 a.m. – A man was arrested at Alameda Del Prado and Ignacio Boulevard for driving under the influence and for driving over the double yellow lines.

12:38 p.m. – A white Toyota Highlander and large white Ford van crashed on the west side of De Long Avenue near Reichert Avenue, leaving broken glass and debris in the road.  One of the parties reported back pain.

12:41 p.m. – A 2003 GMC Sierra was stolen from the parking lot of the Chevrolet dealership on Redwood Boulevard sometime overnight. The keys to the Sierra had been missing since Feb. 11.

3:57 p.m. – An iPad was found at Copper Hill Way and Pepper Creek Way and turned into the police.

6:58 p.m. – Residents of Pinheiro Circle returned home to find their back door open and home burglarized.  Some of the items stolen included a laptop, camera, jewelry and an iPad. The estimated value of the missing items was $6,400.

10:47 p.m. – A woman was heard screaming “leave me alone, get away” and was crying near the 200 block of Posada Del Sol.  Officers responded and subsequently arrested a suspect for being drunk in public and for possession of drug paraphernalia.
