Subject Cited for Brandishing Imitation Firearm

Selected calls from the log books of Novato PD, March 14-16

March 14 

11:03 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 600 block of Cutlass Drive.  A vehicle was vandalized with graffiti taggings.

11:25 a.m. – A vehicle was burglarized on Fawn Court.  Loss is undetermined at this time.

2:07 p.m. – A fight was reported in the parking lot of San Marin High School.  Two males were identified who exchanged words with an unknown third party.  There was no merit found to report of a physical fight.  

3:26 p.m. – A suspect was arrested and booked for driving under the influence in the 6900 block of Redwood Boulevard.  The suspect also faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment.

5:30 p.m. – A giant tortoise was reportedly crossing the street just south of Novato Ford on Redwood Boulevard causing a traffic hazard.  A small turtle was located and returned to the wildlife preserve. 

6:06 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 100 block of San Andreas Drive.  Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s house and stole a laptop and associated accessories. 

7:07 p.m. – A 48-year-old male developmentally disabled patient in the 1600 block of Hill Road thrust a kitchen knife at a staff member after she knocked on his door to give him his medication.  The patient has multiple psychiatric and physical disabilities.  He was placed on psychiatric observation as a danger to others. 

March 15 

4:58 a.m. – A subject was cited for vehicle habitation in the vicinity of Franklin Avenue and Lamont Avenue. 

8:03 a.m. – A warrant arrest was made on Grove Lane.  Subject was booked into Marin County Jail on an outstanding warrant. 

10:59 a.m. – A missing adult was reported on Livingston Court.  An 82-year-old woman with dementia walked away from her home and could not be located.  The woman was found down the street from the residence. 

11 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the vicinity of South Novato Boulevard and Redwood Boulevard.  Unknown suspects(s) tagged the Gateway Commons wall with black spray paint.  

11:21 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 400 block of Cutlass Drive.  Unknown subject(s) spray painted the victim’s vehicle with suspected gang related taggings.

5:15 p.m. – A man on Sunrise Lane reportedly left a suicide note.  The reporting party found him breathing shallow and did not know what he took.  Subject was placed under psychiatric evaluation. 

8:35 p.m. – A grand theft was reported in the 200 block of Montura Way.  A gold watch and ring are missing from the house.  Victim believes a subject working at his house took the items.  Loss is estimated at $12,000. 

8:36 p.m. – A man was reported to have fallen down in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue.  He was reported conscious and breathing with blood on his face.  The subject had been drinking and fell on the sidewalk, causing a large laceration.  He was transported to Marin General Hospital. 

10:04 p.m. – Novato Police Department provided assistance to the Marin County Sheriff's Office looking for a runaway juvenile violating his probation.  The juvenile is a black belt in tai kwon do and caution should be used.  Subject was cited and released for possession of a switchblade and a parole violation. 

March 16 

11:37 a.m. – A reporting party’s 12-year-old daughter has been receiving threats via Facebook.  The reporting party spoke with the principal at Hamilton Meadow Park  School who advised filing a police report. Reporting party has documentation.  Advice was given regarding social networking sites. 

12:17 p.m. – Extra patrols have been requested during the lunch period at San Marin High School as they have been having problems with reckless driving and drag racing in the area of the school.  

1:15 p.m. – A man was reported to be making inappropriate comments to the mother picking up her children from school on Main Gate Road.  Subject was contacted and admonished regarding any comments made to parents picking up their students from school. 

2:36 p.m. – Vehicle tampering was reported on Arthur Street.  Unknown subject(s) took a catalytic converter from a Toyota pick up. 

3:04 p.m. – The driver of a black Chevy Blazer in the vicinity of Novato High School was reported to have pointed a pellet gun at another male.  The suspect was cited and released for drawing and/or brandishing an imitation firearm and exposing an imitation firearm in a public place. 

3:16 p.m. – Reckless driving was reported in the vicinity of San Carlos Way and San Marin Drive.  A jacked-up black truck with gold flames ran a stop sign and passed a string of cars on the shoulder/sidewalk.  The driver was contacted and admonished. 

7:41 p.m. – A warrant arrest was made on Lorraine Court for multiple health and safety violations. 

9:24 p.m. – A warrant arrest was made on the 600 block of Logan Street.  The subject was booked into Marin County Jail. 

11:42 p.m. – A mother stated that her 12-year-old daughter is receiving text messages from other juveniles and she requested to speak to an officer about actions she can take.  The reporting party was given advice and advised to contact police if harassment and threats occur. 

11:50 p.m. – A subject was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia in the vicinity of First Street and Industrial Way.
