Student Admits to Stealing from School Fundraiser

The following information from Oct. 7-8 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner:

10:01 a.m., Oct. 8 — A student at Novato High School confessed to stealing money from a fundraiser. The student, who is in the school office with a parent and probation officer, was arrested and booked at juvenile hall on an embezzlement charge.

1:58 a.m. — A vehicle vandalism was reported near Armstrong Drive and Cherry Street.

10:47 a.m. — Paramedics brought a woman to Novato Community Hospital after she was found at the McDonald's on Redwood Boulevard acting erratic and delusional. She was taken to Marin General's psychiatric ward.

11:32 a.m. — Three bikes and a toolbox were stolen from a locked garage on Inyo Circle. Estimated loss is $830.

5:07 p.m. — A woman was sitting for a long time in a car in the KFC parking lot on Redwood Boulevard, and someone called for a welfare check after saying the woman appeared to be under the influence. Officers found that she was tired from being up all night in jail.

6:58 p.m. — A woman on San Marin Drive was notified that one of her credit cards was found on a person who was booked at jail. She was asked to call a detective.

7:20 p.m. — A verbal dispute was reported in the middle of Buchanan Street. Someone saw a man try to force a woman into a black Toyota 4Runner. The woman was contacted by an officer and a domestic violence case was filed.

9:40 p.m. — A man threatened to stab a bartender at an establishment on First Street. Officers were unable to locate the suspect and decided there was no merit to a criminal threat.

Oct. 8

3:23 a.m. — A silver SUV was seen driving the wrong direction on Highway 101 near the South Novato Boulevard exit. The driver turned around and started going the right direction.

10:39 a.m. — A student at Novato High School is extremely distraught and with a counselor. The student was transported to a hospital psychiatric ward.

10:45 a.m. — A driver was trying to leave the scene of a vehicle collision at Vintage Oaks shopping center. An officer facilitated an information exchange with another driver.

12:05 p.m. — A person described as drinking heavily and suicidal was taken to a hospital psychiatric ward.

2:38 p.m. — A ex-boyfriend has been staying at a woman's residence on Ignacio Boulevard for three days and refuses to leave. An officer got the man to leave and told him not to return.

5:07 p.m. — A 9-year-old child is disrespecting the reporting party's wife on Hathaway Drive. An officer gave advice to all parties.

5:48 p.m. — The CHP was assisted when two male juveniles got into a physical altercation on the shoulder of Highway 101 near Bel Marin Keys Boulevard.

7:50 p.m. — A noninjury collision was reported at Seventh Street and Novato Boulevard.

8:31 p.m. — A person was sending harassing texts to the reporting party and pounding on the caller's window at a residence on Hill Road. Advice was given.

10:21 p.m. — Someone drove up to the old hospital site on Hill Road in a white truck and dumped garbage. A sawed-up hot tub was found about 50 yards west of Hill Road. A call was placed to public works to clean it up.
