Stolen School Property Resurfaces

The following information from Apr 29-May 1 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

April 29

11:18 a.m. – A driver stopped for vehicle code violations in the 200 block of Vintage Way was cited for possession of marijuana, no evidence of vehicle registration, no evidence of financial responsibility, and driving with a suspended license.  The driver’s vehicle was also impounded for 30 days. 

2:45 p.m. – A man was observed driving a white, late '90s model Dodge Ram truck into Pioneer Park on Simmons Lane.  The reporting party said he had driven his truck to the picnic tables and then drove out again.  The man was booked into Marin County Jail for outstanding Sonoma County warrants.

4:20 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 1600 block of Merritt Drive.  The reporting party said that unknown(s) had thrown rocks over her fence and broke her outdoor table. 

6:29 p.m. – A man on a bike was reportedly taking “A” frame caution signs from a construction area in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue and throwing them into traffic.  The reporting party said the man appeared to be very inebriated.  The man was arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness and a probation violation. 

9:46 p.m. – A fight was reported between two men in the vicinity of the Viking Lounge on Redwood Boulevard.  Officer(s) found that there were no apparent injuries and both men refused to press any charges. 

April 30 

8:14 a.m. – A fraud was reported in the 2000 block of Laguna Vista Drive.  Unknown(s) used the victim’s credit card number to make an unauthorized purchase.  The reporting party has possession of the card. 

11:19 a.m. – A petty theft was reported on Hamilton Landing.  A commercial burglary over the weekend resulted in the theft of a computer and a headset.  The amount of the loss is undetermined at this time. 

11:23 a.m. – Threats were reported in the vicinity of Hutchins Way.  A reporting party said that her daughter’s iPod was stolen about two weeks ago.  The woman was going to handle it with the parents of the culprit however since that time she has learned that the suspect has pulled a knife on her daughter and threatened her with harm.  The matter is being investigated. 

12:10 p.m. – A burglary was reported at Hamilton Meadow Park School on Main Gate Road.  Unknown(s) took laptops, speakers, and a backpack over the weekend. 

2:18 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1400 block of Indian Valley Road.  A reporting party who stores his bike at his mother’s home said his bicycle had been stolen from an enclosed garage.  There were no signs of evidence.  The loss is undetermined at this time. 

6:31 p.m. – An assault and battery was reported in the 400 block of Ignacio Boulevard.  A reporting party said that her neighbor had pushed and scratched her during an argument over the neighbor’s daughters making her 9-year-old daughter cry.  She said that she had scratches on her arm.  During the call the neighbor’s husband came to the door and made a challenge.   Officer(s) determined that one party went to the other’s residence and confronted the other about her children.  It appears that a mutual fight ensued and both parties had scratch marks on their arms.  Both parties are now in their own residences and are calm and have declined to make charges.  Both parties stated that they would stay away from each other. 

8:14 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the 400 block of South Palm Drive.  Gang taggings in blue paint were found on a garbage can and by the main door of a building.  

10 p.m. – Vandalism was reported to a laundry room on Hutchins Way.  One was arrested and booked into juvenile hall. 

May 1 

7:21 a.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the vicinity of Regent Court and Tamalpais Avenue.  A citizen reported that a 70-year-old woman is lost and doesn’t know where she is.  The woman was identified and returned to a nearby assisted living community.  Nothing further was requested from police. 

8:38 a.m. – Found property was reported in the 100 block of Bolling Circle.  The reporting party found a laptop and a bag in a storm drain.  The property appeared to be from a Hamilton area school.  

9:19 a.m. – An assault was reported at San Jose Middle School on Sunset Parkway.  The reporting party said that several girls at school jumped his daughter yesterday.  The reporting party spoke with school staff who requested documentation.  The reporting party also contacted the principal, who advised him that they would conduct a full investigation.  Officer(s) spoke with the principal who will contact police with the findings. 

11:02 a.m. – A fraud was reported at Northbay Check Cashing on Grant Avenue.  A bank returned a counterfeit check for $758. 

12:51 p.m. – A woman involved in a non-injury crash in the vicinity of Olive Avenue and Redwood Boulevard was cited for driving without a license.  The woman’s vehicle was also impounded for 30 days. 

2:13 p.m. – A student at Hamilton Meadow Park School was found to have a laptop on him that belongs to the school.  The student was arrested and booked at the juvenile hall and then cited for receiving stolen property and released. 

6:17 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Binford Road.  A green 2002 Honda Accord was broken into within the last two hours.  The front driver's side window is smashed. A purse was taken. 

10:02 p.m. – A man said that he wanted to speak to an officer at the police station on Machin Avenue about a court case he has for the following day.  The man said it was about a misunderstanding he had with his girlfriend.  The man was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of injury to a cohabitant.  He was also served with an Emergency Protection Order.
