Stolen Handgun Left at Motel; Man Arrested When He Goes Back to Get It

A man who left a stolen and loaded handgun in a Novato motel room was arrested Tuesday when he retraced his steps and asked for the gun back, police said.

received a call at 1:31 p.m. from the on North Redwood Boulevard about a loaded handgun found in a room. Officers determined that it was stolen.

At 3:43 p.m., the man who had occupied the room returned to the motel to retrieve the gun, but police had confiscated it. Officers followed the man as he drove away from the motel and arrested him.

David Geter, 25, of Carson faces a felony charge of possession of stolen property.
