Smoke-Filled Car on 101 in Novato Yields Warrant Arrest

Fairfield man was wanted in a grand theft incident in Los Angeles.

A Marin County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over a smoke-filled vehicle Sunday night in Novato and arrested man who was wanted by Los Angeles authorities in a grand theft case, a sheriff’s department spokesman said Monday.

A deputy stationed along Highway 101 spotted a smoke-filled vehicle heading northbound at 10:15 p.m. and engaged in pursuit. He established that the registration was expired and pulled over the driver near the Nave Drive exit on 101, sheriff’s Lt. Barry Heying said.

Kenneth Jerome Shockley, 19, of Fairfield was found to be wanted on a grand theft charge by the Los Angeles Police Department, and the deputy made a warrant arrest. Two others in the vehicle were released.

Shockley, who listed his occupation as a street sweeper, was being held without bail at Marin County Jail on Monday.
