Smart Girl Avoids Creep on Bike

The following information from June 13–15 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

June 15, 2:03 p.m. – Parent(s) of a girl reported that an older white man approached their daughter on his bike.  The man had followed her down Grant Avenue and asked the girl how old she was and if she was old enough to date.  The girl ducked into a store until the man had left the area.  

June 13

12:34 a.m. – Someone in the 200 block of Posada Del Sol said that an ex-boyfriend was in an argument with the reporting party’s father.  One person was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence. 

3:20 a.m. – A man in the 600 block of Fairhaven Way reported that his girlfriend hit him in the face.  The girlfriend was reportedly extremely drunk and belligerent.  The man did not wish to press charges although the woman’s daughter did not want to stay with her mother because of her drinking.  Advice was provided to all parties.

7:57 a.m. – A 19-year-old man in the 1000 block of Third Street was booked into Marin County Jail for criminal trespassing, a probation violation, and a violation of a court order. 

5:44 p.m. – A large white moving van reportedly hit some utility lines in the 2000 block of Leese Lane.  Power lines had been pulled off of a residence.  PG&E had repaired the lines prior to police arrival. 

7:36 p.m. – A woman reported that another woman had been challenging her to a fight in the 200 block of Vintage Way.  The reporting party was advised to stay in her vehicle until officer(s) arrived.  Both parties were contacted and advised. 

10:17 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported on Somerset Place after an explosion was heard.  The reporting party heard a loud noise that sounded like a shot or possible a firework.  The area was checked for damages and witnesses.  None of either was found. 

10:43 p.m. – A woman in the 300 block of Rowland Boulevard reported that her sister was going berserk.  The sister was poking holes in her hand with a needle and said she did not want help.  She was taken for a psychiatric hold as she posed a danger to herself and others. 

June 14 

10:28 a.m. – A grand theft was reported in the 200 block of Barcelona Drive.  An antique clock valued at $400 was taken from the carport.  The reporting party believes people that came to pick up donations the day before were responsible.  An antique chest was also taken that was valued at $350 and contained other belongings.  

1:04 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported at Novato High School that involved gifts from a teacher. 

2:58 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 300 block of Captain Nurse Circle.  Unknown(s) broke into the home through a locked rear window.  Some cash and other items were taken.  The total loss is unknown at this time. 

4:27 p.m. – The friend of a 13-year-old boy reported that his friend was involved in a bicycle accident.  The boy was transported to Novato Community Hospital.  No vehicles were involved. The boy’s mother was contacted who said that the father was on his way.  The boy was being treated for a possible broken arm. 

7:39 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 700 block of West Orange Avenue after a group of kids threw rocks at the reporting party’s vehicle breaking the windshield.  The group of three girls all about 14 years of age had split up.  One fled toward Redwood Boulevard on Olive Avenue. 

10:34 p.m. – A misdemeanor warrant arrest was made in the vicinity of Bolling Drive and Captain Nurse Circle.  Two others were cited and released for vehicle code violations.  One of the two was also cited for providing false information to a police officer.  A vehicle was also towed away. 

June 15 

8:28 a.m. – A knife was reported found on a special ed school bus at San Marin High. 

11:07 a.m. – A hit-and-run misdemeanor was reported at the 7-Eleven on Diablo Avenue.  Witnesses told the victim that someone had backed into his vehicle while parked at the store. 

12:49 p.m. – A parent reported that a son might hurt himself on Oak Crest Court.  A person was booked into Marin County Jail for possession of marijuana, OxyContin, nitrous oxide, drug paraphernalia and vandalism. 

3:54 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 100 block of Cobblestone Court.  A woman said unknown(s) had taken jewelry belonging to her recently deceased mother from the residence.  

7:27 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 100 block of Rowland Boulevard.  Unknown(s) had smashed the front passenger side window of a maroon Toyota Corolla.  Loss is undetermined at this time. 

8:13 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at Harvest Market on San Marin Drive.  Management held the shoplifter in the office who had taken a bottle of vodka.  The reporting party refused to press charges.  The shoplifter was identified, given a warning and escorted out of the store. 

10:02 p.m. – Foul language and laughing was heard emanating from the tennis courts at Pioneer Park on Simmons Lane.  Someone was arrested and booked for possession of a controlled substance. 

11:15 p.m. – The driver of a vehicle southbound on Highway 101 at Rowland Boulevard was cited for driving with a suspended license.  The vehicle was also impounded for 30 days.
