Small Vegetation Fire Doused in Hamilton

Fire district official said it appears discarded smoking material caused the blaze.

Discarded smoking materials were determined to be the likely cause of a quarter-acre vegetation fire in Hamilton on Sunday evening, Novato Fire District official said.

Three engines from Novato Fire and one from Marinwood responded to the fire behind 111 Kelly Court after it was reported at 5:50 p.m., Division Chief Mark Heine said. Grass and brush burned behind homes and near the railroad tracks, he said.

The fire was under control at 6:07 p.m. and no injuries were reported.
