Skunk ID'd in Gas Odor; Ex Won't Stay Ex; and Suspicious Package for SMART

The following information from Mar. 5 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Mar. 5

6:09 a.m. - A woman reported that a skunk hit a gas line in her residence and she requested a welfare check.  She said there is a "known skunk" under her residence at this time. Novato Fire was dispatched to handle.

8:32 a.m. – A caller reported that two men at a residence on Olivia Drive are cursing and hanging out and look like they are casing the area.  The subjects were contacted and both are residents of the area.

11:43 a.m. - Petty theft report was filed for an iPad missing from a lab at Rancho Elementary School.  The iPad went missing between 9/4/12 – 9/24/12.  Police took the serial number and NUSD property tag number.

12:46 p.m. – A Novato Boulevard resident reports that her minor daughter is receiving harassing texts and messages via a social network from another student at a university.

2:47 p.m. - Advice was given to a woman regarding an ex-boyfriend who has basically refused to accept the relationship is over and continues to attempt to restart. She was advised of the temporary restraining order process if this continues.

12:54 p.m. - An adult white male in a red jacket was reported pushing a white adult female wearing a black jacket into a bush and the onto the cement. When contacted by police, both stated they were rough-housing for fun. 

3:59 p.m. - A suspicious packed showed up within the last 24 hours at the end of the railroad track on Vintage Way. Officers located a 55-gallon drum containing non-hazardous soil and contacted the number on the barrel of a Santa Rosa company.  The company advised that they dropped it off during the day and it has to do with the SMART train project. They will advise their supervisors regarding removal.

3:49 p.m. – A person called to say that while his/her mother is at a convalescent hospital over $20,000 of property was taken from the mother’s vacant home.  The reporting party was told (second-hand) that it was relatives that are known. 

4:02 p.m. – A residential burglary occurred within the last two hours on Hill Road. The manager saw suspicious subjects in the rear of the building about 40 minutes prior. The victim saw two men when she got home. They were wearing baseball caps. Entry was made through the balcony.

10:52 p.m. – An elderly man called stating an unknown object hit the roof and knocked the sky light off allowing rain to come into the house. Novato Fire was able to secure skylight with tarp.
