Security Guard's Tip and Video Review Lead to Burglary Suspect's Arrest

19-year-old Novato man faces five felony shoplifting counts.

A security guard at a Novato grocery store thought that face looked awfully familiar. To be sure, there was an appeal for the videotape.

Novato police on Wednesday arrested a 19-year-old Novato man on suspicion of five burglaries from the supermarket in downtown Novato. With help from a loss-prevention officer and store surveillance video, Taylor Nason Lizarraga was identified as a suspect in five shoplifting incidents between early June and late July and now faces five felony burglary charges.

Police obtained Lizarraga’s name and tracked him down at his house on Merritt Drive, where they asked him to go down to the police station with officers. After an interview, he was arrested at 1 p.m. Wednesday and booked at Marin County Jail.
