Security Guard Peppers Unwanted Restaurant Goers

The following information from Aug 2-5 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

 

The Headliner: 

Aug 3, 12:09 a.m. – A reporting party said that a security guard at La Pinata Restaurant on Seventh Street would not allow him and his friends into the premises.  The reporting party sounded very inebriated and very upset.  He said the security guard sprayed something in his friend's face and his friend is now in pain.  Officer(s) found that four people were told to leave by a security guard and restaurant staff.  When the group tried to push their way into the restaurant the security guard used pepper spray.

Aug 2 

12:27 a.m. – A petty theft was reported at the Safeway store on Diablo Avenue. The reporting party said that two Hispanic men about 18 years of age ran from the store with bottles of beer. They were last seen running out of the parking lot and on to Redwood Boulevard. The incident was caught on surveillance video.

9:39 a.m. – A fraud was reported in the 500 block of Eldridge Avenue.  Unknown(s) accessed a victim’s business account and used a MasterCard number to make a purchase on line. The loss is $82.10. 

9:43 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the Safeway store on Nave Drive. Unknown(s) made gang related taggings in the bathroom(s) with a bold black marker.  The estimated damage is $200. 

10:23 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported on Hathaway Drive. A 1995 Toyota Corolla was taken from the victim while the reporting party was out of the country. The vehicle was last seen on July 19. 

12:19 p.m. – Health and safety violations were reported in the vicinity of Rancho School. The reporting party said that there are three Hispanic men drinking in the creek area. The reporting party was concerned for children attending a summer program at the school.  One was issued a citation for possession of a marijuana joint. 

1:34 p.m. – Suspicious persons were reported in the vicinity of Enfrente Road and Entrada Road. The reporting party said that two black men and a shirtless white man were in the middle of the road refusing to move for vehicles trying to get by them. They are yelling at passing vehicles and people. The three were gone by arrival of officer(s) and they could not be located. 

3:05 p.m. – A homeless encampment was reported in the vicinity of Rowland Way.  A gray tent with orange stripes was seen occupied by a woman with an aggressive dog.  Officer(s) located a tent and contents about 75 yards east of the theaters.  The encampment was unoccupied.  A notice was left to pack up and vacate the area. 

5:27 p.m. – A property manager in the 500 block of Loleta Lane said that some people were involved in a physical fight in a common area.  The reporting party said that he saw a white man in his early 20s wearing only shorts.  The man had facial injuries. The fight dispersed soon after the manager appeared on the scene. One was booked for providing false information to an officer, and a violation of parole. 

8:55 p.m. – A grand theft was reported on Pacheco Creek Drive. The reporting party said that unknown(s) stole a concrete saw out of the bed of her husband’s work truck yesterday.  The value was estimated at $2200. 

9:31 p.m. – A reporting party said that a 30-year-old white man wearing a striped shirt appeared to be drunk in the 1000 block of First Street.  One was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of public drunkenness. 

Aug 3 

12:45 a.m. – One was arrested and booked in the vicinity of Fifth Street and Grant Avenue on suspicion of driving while under the influence.  The driver was taken to Marin County Jail. 

4:33 a.m. – A reporting party in the 1000 block of Green Oak Drive said he is with a Hispanic man who just got into a fight with a group of four or five other Hispanic men. The victim says he does not know the people who attacked him.  He is bleeding but is declining medical attention.  The reporting party said that the man has been drinking. The area was checked and the subjects were gone on arrival. 

6:55 a.m. – A grand theft was reported in the 400 block of Enfrente Road.  Unknown(s) stole miscellaneous tools from the unsecured bed of the victim’s pickup truck. The estimated loss is $1320. 

7:49 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported in the 1000 block of Green Oak Drive. A white 1996 Honda Civic was taken from the parking lot.  

9:34 a.m. – A burglary was reported at St. Anthony’s church in the 1000 block of Cambridge Street. Unknown(s) smashed a glass door and entered the parish hall over night. Approximately $1800 worth of jewelry and rummage sale items were stolen. 

11:53 a.m. – A fraud was reported on Galli Drive. Unknown(s) hacked into the bank account of a construction company. Various people have cashed $4850 in checks. 

1:48 p.m. – A reporting party said that a white man with a beard appeared to be drunk in the vicinity of a bike path in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard. The man was located and transported to detox. 

2:40 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 700 block of Olive Avenue.  Unknown(s) smashed the rear window of the victim’s vehicle.  Damage is estimated at $200. 

3:27 p.m. – A petty theft was reported at the 7-Eleven store in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue.  A person stole the victim’s wallet from his reach when the victim had turned his back.  An attempt to contact a suspect met with negative results. 

4:22 p.m. – Shoplifting was reported at the Target store on Vintage Way. One woman was detained. She has no identification and is cooperative. 

9:03 p.m. – A petty theft was reported in the vicinity of Grant Avenue and Redwood Boulevard.  A bike was taken from a bus pad between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. The bike was chained and locked. 

9:09 p.m. – A reporting party at the RiteAid store on Diablo Avenue said that a white man wearing a hat and black jacket is very drunk and can barely talk.  He has a cart full of items and is refusing to pay.  He will not leave the store.  One was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail. 

10:17 p.m. – A reporting party in the 7400 block of Redwood Boulevard said that a drunk woman got into his car while he was at the gas station.  The woman was arrested and booked for public drunkenness and later released. 

Aug 4 

2:13 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported in the 200 block of El Bonito Drive. 

2:46 a.m. – Extra patrols were requested in the vicinity of Saint Anthony’s church on Cambridge Street. 

3:24 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported at Novato Days Inn on Redwood Boulevard. Nine people were found in the stolen vehicle.  The driver was arrested and the juveniles were cited for probation violations. 

7:55 a.m. – A burglary was reported on Clay Court. Unknown(s) forced open the camper shell on the victim’s truck. The loss is $3278 in tools.  

10:23 a.m. – Vandalism was reported on Landing Court. Unknown(s) smashed out a window to a residence. No entry was gained. The damage is estimated at $1000. 

1:23 p.m. – Health and safety violations were reported in the vicinity of Hamilton Drive. The reporting party responded to a report of a water leak by the building owner. While in the building the reporting party noted approximately 50 marijuana plants in a rented portion of the building. The county task force was informed about the matter and a warrant is to be written and served. 

3:22 p.m. – A homeless encampment was reported in the vicinity of the 7500 block of Redwood Boulevard on the south east side of the railroad tracks.  Officer(s) found the camp empty. Information was forwarded to the K9 unit. 

4:47 p.m. – A reporting party on Olive Avenue said that a man was walking around with his pants undone.  He appeared to have been sleeping under the reporting party’s car and is now walking around a parking lot.  The man was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of being drunk in public. 

8:11 p.m. – A 65-year-old man was reported to be passed-out on San Benito Way.  One was booked on suspicion of battery with serious bodily injury and elder abuse.  

11:48 p.m. – One was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence in the vicinity of south bound Highway 101 and Rowland Boulevard. 

Aug 5 

2:21 a.m. – A health and safety violation was reported in the 1700 block of Grant Avenue.  The reporting party said that a white couple in their 20s were in a laundry room with the lights off by a pool area.  One was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and a violation of probation. 

5:04 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 100 block of Landing Court.  A window was smashed but no entry was made. 

8:35 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the vicinity of Alameda Del Prado and Clay Court.  A silver-blue Honda was found with a broken window and opened doors.  

1:19 p.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported in the vicinity of Green Oak Drive and Marin Valley Drive.  A red 2011 Toyota Corolla was taken sometime between Friday and this morning.  

8:53 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Lamont Avenue.  Unknown(s) went into the residence through a bathroom window while the reporting party was on vacation.  Missing from the residence is 15 hats and additional items.
