San Rafael Man Assaults Ex-Girlfriend with Car

Police arrest man after he crashes car into ex-girlfriend's vehicle.

A San Rafael man was arrested Saturday night for deliberately crashing his car into his ex-girlfriend's vehicle in Novato, according to police.

Novato Police Department reported that a 31-year-old San Rafael woman was driving with her current boyfriend, a Novato resident, in the 1000 block of Ignacio Boulevard Saturday around 10 p.m. when Jesus Alvarez, 29, passed them driving a brown SUV.

The woman told police that she and Alvarez had formerly dated and live together. He, reportedly, drove in front of her car, stopped, and backed into the woman's vehicle, causing a collision.

The woman complained of pain on the scene and her car was damaged.

Alvarez was later arrested at his home in San Rafael and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
