Novato Police Catch Violators in Pedestrian Safety Operation

Police officers focused on six intersections from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., looking for cars and pedestrians violating traffic laws. Four drivers were cited for failing to yield to pedestrians. In addition, police issued 22 citations to pedestrians for various infractions. Officers also gave out nine warnings during the operation and handed out 35 educational fliers.

A Novato PD spokesman said there were no decoys used in the operation, which was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

"The Novato Police Department will continue to actively enforce all pedestrian safety violations and encourage members of the community to report any traffic safety problems observed within the city," police said in a release.

In all, 4797 vehicles were screened during Saturday's operation.
