Downtown Umpqua Bank Robbed

Incident occurs just steps from Novato police department

A 26-year-old Novato man allegedly robbed Umpqua Bank Wednesday morning, at Grant Avenue and Redwood Boulevard, less than a block from the city's police department.

Police say Joshua Wilson Little walked into the downtown bank, demanded money from a teller and fled after taking an undisclosed amount of cash.

The incident occurred around 9:20am. No weapon was involved, said police spokesman John McCarthy.

Little was located a short distance from the bank about 30 minutes after the robbery. He has been charged with robbery and violation of probation.
