Retrieving ID from iCloud Leads to Man's Arrest

Novato man, 19, faces felony robbery charge.

After a bit of technical sleuthing by someone who was allegedly robbed, a 19-year-old Novato man was arrested and faces a felony robbery charge after a recent incident in Marin City, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies investigating a robbery of cell phones and cash developed a lead through a cell phone number that identified one of the suspects, Lt. Barry Heying said. Several people had met the suspect Thursday in San Rafael and received a call from him asking for a ride to San Francisco, Heying said.

When the group stopped in Marin City to pick up the suspect, they were robbed of their phones and cash, accord to the report. Later, one of the victims went into his iCloud account and found the phone number for the suspect, and the number was passed along to investigators.
