Random Act of Madness Leads to Discovery of Outstanding Warrants

The following information from April 22-24 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

April 24, 10:20 a.m. – A reporting party was sitting in his car in the Trader Joe’s parking lot on Redwood Boulevard when he said a man wearing a black shirt with “Event Staff” written in yellow letters walked up and punched his window.  The man was also with a woman with black hair and a short black dress.  They were last seen walking near the Shell station and car lot.  The man was contacted and arrested and booked on two outstanding warrants. 

April 22

12:33 a.m. – Four kids were reported fighting in an alley in the 1000 block of First Street.  One person went into an apartment above Brown’s Binyerd and a associated vehicle was described as a white van.  Officer(s) contacted multiple persons and all stated that they were in the area of the incident but not involved.  The driver admitted to some sort of verbal with another man and woman but no victims were identified.  All persons in the van were identified and seven were issued seatbelt violations. 

2:20 a.m. – A man on Carnoustie Heights requested that the police come and talk to him.  One was arrested and booked into Marin County jail on suspicion of violating a restraining order.

3:01 a.m. – A noise disturbance was reported in the vicinity of Fifth Street and Vallejo Avenue.  Multiple people were on a front porch and were too loud.  One was booked on suspicion of domestic violence. 

3:19 a.m. – An argument between roommates resulted in one being taken into custody and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of public drunkenness. 

12:18 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the 1000 block of Eighth Street.  A 54-year-old woman reported having difficulty breathing.  No need for medical personnel was found.  The caller repeatedly places false medical calls.  She was given a final warning and was advised that she will be cited and/or arrested the next time she makes a false call. 

5:01 p.m. – A citizen requested assistance in the Costco parking lot on Vintage Way.  The reporting party was concerned about a dog that was left inside a parked vehicle. The animal appeared to be in distress and was continually barking.  The owner of the dog was contacted and advised.  The Humane Society was also contacted and asked about their standards. 

9:02 p.m. – A health and safety violation was reported in the vicinity of Hill Road and Seagull Row.  One was booked for possession of a controlled substance and a complaint was filed for a probation violation. 

April 23 

7:32 a.m. – Vehicle tampering was reported at Century Tile on Redwood Boulevard.  Unknown(s) attempted to steal a company vehicle over the weekend.  The steering column and ignition of a white 2000 Ford F-250 were found extensively damaged. 

9:41 a.m. – A brown horse was reported galloping on Vineyard Road toward  Sutro Avenue.  The horse had a saddle but no rider. The horse was returned to the owner and the owner was found uninjured. 

10:03 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 300 block of Silvio Lane.  Unknown(s) stole $393 in cash from a victim’s unlocked vehicle. 

10:58 a.m. – A fraud was reported at the Chevron station in the 7400 block of Redwood Boulevard.  A customer provided a fake $100 bill.  The customer is cooperative and standing by for police.  The case will be forwarded to the Secret Service. 

12:10 p.m. – A grand theft was reported in the vicinity of Olive Avenue and Robinhood Drive.  Copper was taken from an AT&T cell site. 

5:29 p.m. – A reporting party said loud voices and a strong odor of alcohol could be detected while walking over the bridge to the Novato Fair Shopping Center on Diablo Avenue.  A number of people were cited for littering and released.  All were advised to move along or be cited for trespassing 

6:07 p.m. – A homeless encampment was reportedly located under an overpass in the 200 block of Ignacio Boulevard.  The reporting party was upset about people living under the bridge and using foul language.  The people were identified and advised to leave the area. 

10:13 p.m. – A welfare check was requested for a man sleeping on a stone bench in the 1000 block of First Street.  The man was found to be too intoxicated to safely care for himself and was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail without incident. 

10:34 p.m. – A man was reported to be sleeping in a flowerbed in the 1200 block of Vallejo Avenue.  The man was transported to Marin County Jail on suspicion of public drunkenness. 

April 24 

7:10 a.m. – A suspicious subject was reported in the 100 block of Pizarro Avenue.  The reporting party said that a white man, about 20 to 30 years old, wearing a dark blue beanie and a navy blue jumpsuit was digging into a berm.  He has been in the area for about 30 minutes and has an army bag with him.  The man was contacted who was trespassing on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers property.  He was taking copper wire from a field. 

9:33 a.m. – A burglary was reported on Jamison Court.  Unknown(s) attempted to pry a lock of a kitchen door to a home.  No entry was made and damage was estimated at about $100. 

3:50 p.m. – Found property was reported under the floors of a rented house in the 1900 block of Center Road.  The reporting party requested contact with an officer to answer questions.  Miscellaneous jewelry was found and booked as found property. 

4:50 p.m. – A reporting party had concerns about a man in his 60s who was lying on the grass in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue.  He was breathing but had been seen drinking and smoking.  The man was arrested and booked on suspicion of public drunkenness. 

5:26 p.m. – A man was booked for driving under the influence in the 1100 block of Simmons Lane.  He also faces charges for driving without a license and a probation violation.  His vehicle was also impounded. 

10:07 p.m. – A man was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance in the 300 block of Ignacio Boulevard.
