Raccoon Sets Off Motion Detector

The following information from May 27-29 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

May 27 

7:32 a.m. – A man in the 400 block of Alameda Del Prado was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on an outstanding warrant. 

10:09 a.m. – A person was arrested in the 900 block of Diablo Avenue for violating a temporary restraining order pertaining to domestic violence.

10:19 a.m. – A green VW Jetta was reported stolen on Randolph Drive.  The vehicle was last seen at 2 a.m.  No one else has keys and no money is owed on the vehicle.  

11:28 a.m. – A man selling fruit without a permit in the vicinity of Vineyard Road and Wilson Avenue was issued a citation and moved along.

1:00 p.m. – A fur coat valued at $1000 was reported stolen from a residence on Westridge Lane.  

3:33 p.m. – Novato Police Department assisted the Novato Fire District on a hillside fire off Gothic Drive. 

3:47 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported on Main Gate Road.  

6:35 p.m. – A person driving without a license in the vicinity of West Campus Drive and San Marin Drive was cited during a sobriety checkpoint. The driver's vehicle was towed.

7:34 p.m. – A person driving without a license in the vicinity of West Campus Drive and San Marin Drive was cited during a sobriety checkpoint. The driver's vehicle was towed.

9:01 p.m. – A person was cited for driving with a suspended license and an open container in the vicinity of West Campus Drive and San Marin. The driver's vehicle was towed.

9:16 p.m. – A person was cited for driving with a suspended license and a failure to yield in the vicinity of West Campus Drive and San Marin Drive.

9:47 p.m. – A person was cited for driving with a suspended license in the vicinity of West Campus Drive and San Marin Drive. The driver's vehicle was towed.

9:57 p.m. – A person was booked for driving under the influence in the vicinity of West Campus Drive and San Marin Drive during a sobriety checkpoint.

10:18 p.m. – A person was cited for driving without a license in the vicinity of West Campus Drive and San Marin Drive during a sobriety checkpoint.  The vehicle was towed.

10:43 p.m. – A person was booked for possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving a vehicle without an illuminated license plate lamp in the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard. 

11:13 p.m. – A person was booked for driving under the influence in the vicinity of West Campus Drive and San Marin Drive during a sobriety checkpoint.  The vehicle was towed. 

11:55 p.m. – A man on Concord Court was arrested for public drunkenness and transported to a detox center and released to their staff. 

May 28 

8:14 a.m. – A welfare check was requested on an 84-year-old woman with an ankle injury in the 1700 block of Grant Avenue.  A shopping cart landed on her foot near Bridge Creek School after she lost her balance while pushing it. 

9:21 a.m. – A woman in the 1600 block of Center Road reported being harassed by a man who continues to profess his love to her.  The man continues to call the victim and the Sonoma County Sherriff’s Office and has been advised to cease.  He was put on a psychiatric hold and taken for evaluation to Marin General Hospital after making a suicidal statement. 

10:21 a.m. – A vehicle burglary was reported in the 200 block of Club Drive.  Unknown(s) broke into a GMC Denali over night by smashing out the front passenger window.  A wallet was taken. 

11:21 a.m. – A vehicle burglary was reported on Knolltop Court.  Unknown(s) broke into a Lexus SUV overnight and took the contents of the glove box.

5:10 p.m. – A vehicle was reported stolen in the 1100 block of Highland Drive.  A 1997 beige Jeep was stolen sometime between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.  

5:31 p.m. – Officer(s) assisted with traffic for a medical emergency after an infant has a seizure in the Vintage Oaks shopping center.  The infant was transported to Novato Community Hospital for further care. 

8:58 p.m. – A man in his 20s was reported to be passed out but breathing at Pioneer Park on Simmons Lane.  He was booked for public drunkenness. 

8:59 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 1000 block of Fifth Street.  A victim’s vehicle had its windows broken out and four tires slashed.  It is unknown at this time if any items inside the vehicle were stolen.

10 p.m. – Juveniles were cited for possession of alcohol and possession of marijuana in the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard.  The kids were released to their parents. 

11:20 p.m. – A loud explosion was reported in the vicinity of Hangar Avenue.  The area was checked and the source was unable to be located.  There was no evidence of fireworks. 

May 29 

12:22 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 800 block of Diablo Avenue.  A man was booked into Marin County Jail and a boy was booked into juvenile hall.  Both face charges of vandalism.  The man was also charged with driving under the influence. 

1:55 a.m. – Vandalism was reported in the 1100 block of Fourth Street.  The rear window of a vehicle was broken and a garage was tagged with graffiti. 

2:17 a.m. – A person was arrested and booked for driving under the influence in the 1500 block of Center Road. 

11:35 a.m. – Officer(s) responding to an audible motion activated alarm at a business on Pamaron Way saw a raccoon inside the building.  The owner was contacted and advised. 

1:32 p.m. – A vehicle stopped for no license plates led to discovering that the occupant was driving with a suspended license.  The vehicle was towed. 

4:10 p.m. – A woman in the 1700 block of Marion Avenue was reportedly thrown out of her apartment by her boyfriend.  The man was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for battery on a spouse and a violation of probation.  

5:56 p.m. – A woman on Ashland Drive reported that while she was sitting in the bed of a pickup the driver deliberately caused her to fall out and injure herself.  She would not provide any information about the driver.  Her friend who was not present during the incident said the woman had been drinking and was extremely intoxicated.  The friend said that based on the varied stories she had heard she suspected the woman fell out on her own. 

11:16 p.m. – An assault with a deadly weapon was reported in the 1100 block of Leafwood Heights.  The victim said his cousin threatened to kill him because he helped police look for her when she was a runaway.  She struck him with a pool-cleaning pole and choked him.  The victim sustained bite marks and a bump on the head.
