Pretend Bank Robbery Determined Not to be Funny

The following information from Sept. 4-6 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner:

2:13 p.m., Sept. 6 — A man with a shirt pulled up to cover his face pretended to have a gun as he approached a bank in the 300 block of Ignacio Boulevard. Officers determined there was no intention of robbery and called it a prank between friends. There was no contact with bank employees.

12:32 a.m. — A downed tree is blocking the roadway at Grant and Railroad avenues. Novato Fire District crewmembers cut the tree and moved it.

11:22 a.m. — A person who went to the Safeway pharmacy on Diablo Avenue went to pick up medication and found that the drugs were picked up by someone else the previous day. An unknown person picked up the meds. Investigation ongoing.

12:36 p.m. — A noninjury collision was reported in the 800 block of Vallejo Avenue. A gold Toyota Camry struck a black Audi in front of a business.

1:36 p.m. — A student at San Marin High school was booked at juvenile hall on suspicion of stealing an iPod.

1:56 p.m. — A wallet was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle at the Safeway on Diablo Avenue.

3:00 p.m. — A noninjury collision was reported at Buchanan and Cambridge streets.

3:51 p.m. — A bottle of vodka was stolen from a business in the 1700 block of Grant Avenue. The suspect was described as a black female teenager who came in with six other people.

4:10 p.m. — A bank on the 1600 block of Grant Avenue reported that a customer said he was wiring money to somebody he does not know. A fraud case was taken.

5:12 p.m. — A minor injury accident was reported in front of Novato High School.

6:53 p.m. — A resident of Gertrude Lane reported her house ransacked and a TV missing. A forced entry was made through a back door.

10:09 p.m. — A man said his girlfriend's sister threw tea at him during a verbal dispute on Sixth Street. The reporting party doesn't want to press charges.

Sept. 6

12:04 a.m. — Someone reported seeing two people go over a fence and into the construction area at 999 Grant Ave. The reporting party reports hearing glass breaking and seeing lights on.

1:36 a.m. — A resident of Gertrude Lane reported chasing a person who was wearing a ski mask from the yard and onto Sutro Drive. The house is the same one that was ransacked one day earlier.

11 a.m. — A theft from a washing machine was reported in the 1400 block of South Novato Boulevard.

11:31 a.m. — A man at the police station said he stole money from his employer over the past five years and wants to turn himself in.

12:25 a.m. — A 10-month-old baby was locked in a vehicle and crying at Vintage Oaks Shopping Center. The baby was removed from the vehicle prior to officer arrival.

3:59 p.m. — A 10-year-old called police and wanted to ask an officer two questions. The child was a Cub Scout, and his questions were answered.

4:02 p.m. — A resident of the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard reported the theft of about $8,000 in jewelry and suspected a houseguest.

5:05 p.m. — A psychologist reported being threatened with bodily harm from a 22-year-old male client. The man said he was going to beat up anyone who tried to make him move out of his house.

5:25 p.m. — A hit-and-run crash was reported at Vintage Oaks Shopping Center. A silver/blue Ford Edge was struck by an unknown vehicle.

6:59 p.m. — A minor injury accident was reported at 125 Vintage Way.

7:12 p.m. — A father reported that his 13-year-old daughter was talking to a boy who said he was 14 years old but later said he graduated from high school in 2010. The father said he would handle things on his end. Advice was given.

8:47 p.m. — A man was seen up on the roof of a home on Trinity Drive during an argument with his wife. A concerned neighbor came over with a ladder and the man came down.

Sept. 7

12:46 a.m. — A resident of the 400 block of Ignacio Boulevard said an unknown man removed a screen and stuck his head inside a bedroom window before the reporting party pushed him away. The neighborhood was checked for the suspect, but no one was found.

2:15 a.m. — A person on Green Oak Drive was reported to have slit his wrist, and now the reporting party has the knife. The man was determined to have ingested alcohol, Valium and Vicodin and cutting his wrists. He was taken to a hospital.

8:55 a.m. — A noninjury collision was reported at Center Road and South Novato Boulevard. A gray Honda and a black Honda were involved.

1:35 p.m. — A woman on Newport Landing Drive was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence after the husband said she was hitting him.

4:40 p.m. — Someone reported finding a list of log-ins IDs and passwords at the bus pad at Grant Avenue and Redwood Boulevard. It was placed into police evidence.

5:16 p.m. — A 30-year-old man was had gashes on his male and was bleeding after a golf cart crash on Stone Tree Lane. The driver was cited and released.

5:29 p.m. — A woman on Mildenhall Street said a neighbor has trapped her cat and locked it in the neighbor's garage. The Marin Humane Society said it is legal for anyone to trap an animal on their property and bring it to the shelter. There is an ongoing dispute about the cat among the neighbors.

6:32 p.m.. — About $600 worth of diesel fuel was taken from a big rig parked on Leveroni Court.

6:56 p.m. — Youths who made ramps out of construction equipment in the 1500 block of Grant Avenue were told to move along.

8:56 p.m. — A 7-year-old boy was reported missing from a residence on Oak Grove Drive. The child left Paradise Foods unannounced, then was located at the residence. Advice was given to parents and the child.

10:20 p.m. — Several people reported hearing loud booms in the area of Gateway Court and Plumas Circle. The area was checked with no results.

11:43 p.m. — A teenage boy was expected home from school by about 6 p.m. and did not show up. An officer found the boy and returned him home to the 800 block of Diablo Avenue.
