Postal Impostor Gets Away With Novato Packages Friday

Inspectors also believe the suspect, dressed in a postal uniform, attempted the crime in San Rafael, and has hit two East Bay locations since last Friday.

A woman impersonating a postal worker reportedly walked into the Novato post office Friday, making off with several packages, according to the Marin IJ.

Postal inspectors believe the woman, who was wearing a postal uniform, also attempted the crime at a post office in San Rafael on Friday morning, a spokesman told the Marin IJ.

Both incidents allegedly occurred between 6 and 6:30 a.m, reporting that in Novato, the woman was able to enter through a back door in the loading area.

Inspectors also believe the suspect has hit two East Bay locations since last Friday, the post office in El Cerrito and the McVittie Annex in Richmond.

A full description has not been obtained of the suspect, who is described as a heavy-set woman.

The U.S. Postal Service has a standing $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of mail thieves. Anyone with information can call (877) 876-2455.
