Having Novato identified as a sanctuary city invites all of the criminal world to Novato, not just the illegal aliens who are the intended recipients of sanctuary status. We need a new city council, and a new police chief. If you and your neighbors and friends fail to be informed voters in the upcoming election, you will get what you deserve. The League of Women Voters has set up a web site so that you can view all candidates' campaign statement. Look for: www.smartvoter.org/

Wow Kenny , my thoughts exactly , as a homeowner here in Novato for a long time , and someone who has had to call the police more than once I'm not voting for one particular candidate either , just anyone who hasn't served or been appointed before. This city has a lot of faults and a lot of mistakes have been made , its someone elses turn to screw up.

RJM, RTFQ, I have been screaming about crime and law enforcement for 3 years. I have published a 19 point program on how to restore law and order to Novato. What do you mean, you are not going to vote for "one particular candidate". I am your candidate. www.ElectJerome.com for my Platform and my 19 point program.

I'm not sure that ranting against immigrants and sanctuary cities when you are ignorant to all the facts helps your cause in any way.
Kevin Matthews October 18, 2011 at 05:39 PM
Particularly when that ignorance calls into question the relevance of your statements.

I have been accused of being a "racist", in this column, I wrote a Letter to the Editor of Novato Patch clarifying my position on race, and the editor declined to print it. The editor wrote: "We'd like our site to be the forum for civil discussion and productive changes of ideas." Out of respect for the First Amendment rights of Freedom of Press, I am not going to try to sneak that letter into comments, However, I have to reiterate the recent court argument of Michael Richards that only Caucasians can be called "racists". Racist acts and words by non-Caucasians are immune. Why?

I didn't say I wasn't voting for Jerome , what I said was "just anyone who hasn't served or been appointed before" anyone , anybody can be a racist ,,,as long as they don't think the way you want them too.

ILLEGAL immigrants. Your "1984" dictionary may not have a different definition for "illegal" and "legal", but mine still does. People who have no respect for immigration laws have no respect for any other US laws. "Illegal" is still "illegal".
