Police Enforce 18 Violations at Sobriety Checkpoint on Ignacio

The conducted a sobriety and drivers license checkpoint on Friday on Ignacio Blvd. at Palmer Dr. and ended up identifying 18 violations but only one person for driving under the influence among the 997 drivers screened, according to police.

The checkpoint identified two moving violations among those screened, along with citing 11 unlicensed drivers and four drivers with suspended licenses, Sgt. Oliver Collins said. Six vehicles were towed from the scene of the checkpoint. Police gave 32 drivers field sobriety tests, Collins added.

“The Novato Police Department would like to thank all the drivers who participated in this educational operation and contributed to the success of deterring impaired driving and increasing public awareness,” Collins said.
