Extra Patrols Requested in Area of Recent Auto Burglaries

The following information from Dec. 22–24 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

Dec. 22, 10:25 a.m. – Extra patrols were requested in the vicinity of the 100 block of Cutlass Drive due to the high volume of auto burglaries in the area.  (See highlighted items below.)

6:48 a.m. – A burglary was reported on Bolling Circle.  Unknown(s) broke into the reporting party’s taxi by smashing a window.  Sunglasses, cash and a GPS were taken from the vehicle. 

8:11 a.m. – A burglary was reported on Cutlass Drive.  Unknown(s) broke into the victim’s vehicle by breaking a rear window with a cement block.  A color cosmetology kit was taken.  Estimated loss is $250.

8:19 a.m. – A vehicle was reported stolen in the 300 block of Alameda Del Prado.  A victim’s white Acura Inegra was taken while it was parked in front of a relative’s residence. 

10:08 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1200 block of Leafwood Heights.  Unknown(s) accessed a victim’s unlocked vehicle and removed a GPS unit, a non-working cell phone and a raincoat.  The loss is estimated at $390. 

10:25 a.m. – Extra patrols were requested in the vicinity of the 100 block of Cutlass Drive due to the high volume of auto burglaries in the area. 

12:25 p.m. – A vehicle was reported stolen in the 200 block of Rockport Way.  Unknown(s) stole a black 1986 Toyota Supra was taken overnight. 

7:06 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Scottsdale Way.  Unknown(s) broke into a white BMW overnight and took an Xbox, three games, a Sony CD player and a black gym bag. 

7:18 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1200 block of Maple Court.  A silver Toyota Camry was broken into and reported by a neighbor.  Contents of the glove box were found on the front seat and other property was found outside the vehicle.  An attempt to contact the registered owner was unsuccessful at this time. 

7:41 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Sixth Street.  An apartment was broken into and meds and art were taken.  The victims has suspect information. 

Dec. 23

10:56 a.m. – A fraud was reported in Pensalcola Court.  A victim’s credit card was used in Great Britain. 

1:23 p.m. – Vandalism was reported at Sinaloa Middle School on Vineyard Road.  A glass door was smashed with a rock near the office area.  No entry was made.  Damage is about $200. 

4:12 p.m. – A petty theft was reported on Sierra Vista.  The reporting party said that a four-foot Asian statue was taken from her front yard and her brother spotted it at Beehive Antiques on Grant Avenue.  The owner of the store said some kids had sold it to him.  The reporting party is requesting advice on how to get the statue returned. 

7:43 p.m. – A juvenile disturbance was reported on San Ramon Way.  A citizen confiscated marijuana from eight kids whom were on school property.  The citizen is requesting officer assistance.  The kids were admonished and released to the custody of their parents. 

Dec. 24 

12:28 p.m. – A welfare check was requested for two white men who were seen fighting in a gas station parking lot in the 7400 block of Redwood Boulevard.  The two customers had departed the area in separate vehicles and were gone on arrival. 

12:47 p.m. – An assault and battery was reported at the Taco Bell in the 900 block of Seventh Street.  A 13-year-old boy reported that while he was sitting at a table a white man in his 40’s wearing a grey t-shirt and blue jeans slapped him in the face.  He also smacked his friend’s helmet off the table and walked out of the restaurant and got into a tan Mercedes.  An area check was conducted but the man could not be located. 

1:54 p.m. – A welfare check was requested for a woman believed slumped over the wheel of her vehicle behind Costco on Vintage Way.  Officer(s) found that the woman was only wrapping gifts in her vehicle. 

8:59 p.m. – An unwanted subject was reported on a bus in the vicinity of Olive Avenue and Redwood Boulevard.  The driver believes that the passenger had been pretending to be asleep as he was trying to get him off the bus.  Officer(s) contacted the passenger and moved him along. 

10:08 p.m. – Unwanted persons were reported at Novato Community Hospital.  Two white men in their 30’s were in the night before wanting prescriptions from a doctor.  They have returned this evening with the same request.  The reporting party states that they are aggressive and are raising their voices at staff in the waiting room.  The two were denied prescriptions and were identified by officer(s) and moved along.
