Police Blotter: A Bloody Dog Bite, Illegal Hunting and A Backpack of Weed

Some of the calls Novato Police responded to over the weekend included vandalism at the old Hamilton Hospital, gunshots heard and stolen skis. A longer list can be found in the latest version of the Novato Patch Police Blotter.



January 26

00:53 – Harassing phone calls – 00 block Drakewood Ln.

Case taken for online report.

01:48 – Driving under the influence - 8th St. / Grant Ave.

Driver arrested and booked.

08:26 – Burglary – 200 block Marin Valley Dr.

Unknown suspect entered rear of residence. Items were knocked over and laptop missing. Case taken.

16:24 – Vandalism – 00 block Piper Ct.

Rear window of RP's vehicle smashed out. RP was at work. Returned to car to find damage. Case taken.

17:16 – Suspicious circumstance – 500 block Olive Ave.

RP states unknown suspects dumped a white bookcase in front of his house. Officer contacted the resident who stated he wanted the bookcase moved so his guests could park in front of his house. Bookcase moved and notified DPW.

23:09 – Noise disturbance – S. Novato Blvd. / Rowland Blvd.

Loud leaf blower. RP unknown if noise is coming from the school, church or gas station. - Nothing heard. Noise possibly from the car wash at the Shell station.

January 25

00:36 – Juvenile disturbance – 00 block Fig Tree Ln.

Juveniles ringing doorbell, playing doorbell ditch. Call routed as beat information.

01:56 – Driving under the influence – 1000 block 7th St.

Subject was booked into Marin County Jail.

07:40 – Gunshot heard – 100 block Stonetree Ln.

RP heard several gunshots coming from the golf course area. Possible hunting out of season in marsh area near Blackpoint. Department of Fish and Game notified.

12:30 – Vandalism – 500 block N. Oakwood Dr.

Front door to the old hospital appears to have been broken or damaged. The front door is wide open. Unknown if anyone is inside or when it occurred. - Unknown suspect damaged door to old Hamilton Hospital. Case taken for documentation.

14:02 – Assist other agency – 200 block Vintage Way

Dog bit the RP's husband. Leg is bleeding. Transients with dog off leash. Humane Society took possession of dog.

16:50 – Fraud – 2000 block Carolyn Way

RP has contacted the FBI regarding a cyber attack to their business computer system that have taken over several of their computers. Per the RP, the FBI advised RP to contact their local law agency. Case taken.

January 24

02:51 – Verbal disturbance – 1100 block 3rd St.

RP's stepson causing disturbance. He wants RP to give him his backpack that has marijuana in it. RP was keeping it to give to his probation officer. Both parties contacted and advice provided.

03:05 – Noise disturbance – 100 block Cielo Ln.

Loud music coming from a car parked on Cielo on the side of the complex near the dead end street. - Area checked. GOA.

08:42 – Petty Theft – 100 block Rowland Way

Theft of Skil saw belonging to contractor working at hospital. RP has video footage showing suspect. Case taken for theft.

10:49 – Reckless driving – Novato Blvd / Wilson Ave

Camaro Southbound on Novato Blvd. Between Wilson and Grand. RP felt the Camaro was traveling at speeds in excess of 50-60 MPH.

13:58 – Hit and run, misdemeanor – 800 block De Long Ave.

Black Jeep caused damage to a water main.

15:58 – Fraud – 900 block Machin Ave.

RP was given fraudulent check on sale of home furniture. Suspect sent victim fraudulent check, requesting money back. Case taken for fraud.

18:32 – Grand theft report – 700 block McClay Rd.

Three pairs of skis taken from the RP's vehicle. RP was unsure if vehicle was locked. Value of skis is approximately $2500. Case taken. No suspect information.


18:38 – Domestic violence cold report – (Address redacted)

RP's husband threw a bowl at the RP and grabbed RP by wrist and pulled RP. Suspect was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail.
