Please check spelling, especially in headlines and subheads. Police Blotter is spelled with two Ts. Thank you.
Hopkin January 13, 2014 at 05:09 PM
Pamela, you're supposed to pronounce it with a French accent, like Target.
Rem O'Donnelley January 13, 2014 at 05:16 PM
Thank you for bringing that to my attention Pamela. I will have another police blotter / bloter out at the end of the week.
Pamela January 13, 2014 at 05:38 PM
Thanks, Hopkin, for injecting humor into my sometimes zealous and unsmiling attitudes toward journalistic integrity. I will pronounce every misspelled word and ill-constructed sentence with a French accent from now on...and laugh instead of cry.
Hopkin January 13, 2014 at 05:50 PM
If only it were that simple, Pamela... sometimes you just can't pronounce them at all as written nowadays!
Al Nymous January 13, 2014 at 07:32 PM
why is this a news alert?
Bubba six pack January 13, 2014 at 08:56 PM
If you're looking fort a full assault on the English language, just look at broadcast news. A 110 pound blonde (with 90 pounds of that in her bra) uses adjectives as adverbs, (real good) and hangs participles, misuses plural phrases, and treats the past tense as if it's an enemy. I've learned to appreciate the effort, if not the delivery. Please keep up the police reports, and see if you can put a single day in with all of the entries, not just the interesting ones. I'd like to see the percentage of calls to AH, and then compare them to the police budget to see if AH uses more of it's allotment of taxed services.
Bubba six pack January 13, 2014 at 08:57 PM
For, not fort. Geez, what a time to screw up.
Roger January 13, 2014 at 09:51 PM
Rem: Will you become the editor of the Novato Patch since Karina has left?
Jerome J Ghigliotti Jr January 13, 2014 at 11:47 PM
Thank you for bringing back the Police Blotter.
Kari Hulac (Editor) January 14, 2014 at 09:23 AM
Rem is filling in while we recruit/hire.
Gram January 14, 2014 at 09:35 AM
Please stay with us, Rem!
Al Nymous January 14, 2014 at 10:26 AM
please get somebody local who knows novato
Craig Belfor January 14, 2014 at 10:38 AM
It's getting to be like jury duty. Tag- you're it, Rem. Still, thanks for the effort. I'd also like to see a location chart of all of the calls, to see where our police budget is being spent.
Al Nymous January 14, 2014 at 12:22 PM
I bet they will get a hipster from New York to do the job.
Al Nymous January 14, 2014 at 04:24 PM
home break-ins are frequent these days. Very concerning. I don't think it will get better after more low income projects are put in.
Hopkin January 14, 2014 at 04:50 PM
Al, I heard through the grapevine that the reason all the apartments across from 7-11 on Diablo became a gated community (locked up tight after dark with patrolling security) was because of break-ins. But how many of those break-ins could be attributed to residents themselves and their acquaintances?
Patricia Warren January 14, 2014 at 05:06 PM
To Bubba Sixpack - you are so critical of a broadcaster's verbiage, but you conclude your comments with a grammatical error: "...budget to see if AH uses more of it's allotment of taxed services." The "it's" in this sentence should be" its" (you want the possessive here, not the verb contraction). pw
Rem O'Donnelley January 14, 2014 at 05:25 PM
What does A H stand for? For those interested in specific areas or frequency of calls the police call logs can be reviewed at the Novato Police Department. They are in a large binder that you can ask for and view in their lobby. One day's worth of calls is four or more pages. Some of the information is redacted.
Hopkin January 14, 2014 at 05:28 PM
AH = "affordable housing"
Rem O'Donnelley January 14, 2014 at 05:39 PM
Thank you for the explanation. What other areas or neighborhoods of Novato would you be interested in having covered and any issues? Let me know.
Bubba six pack January 14, 2014 at 06:38 PM
Patricia - you are right, and I love you for being so nice to point it out. I promise to be more careful, now that I know you are watching. We need more people like you to keep the king's English alive and safe. (Shoud I have capitalized king?).
