Pedestrian Trapped When Car Plows Into San Rafael Restaurant

A Chevrolet SUV smashed into Lundy's Home Cooking at about 5:10 p.m. during the farmer's market on Fourth Street.

An SUV plowed into Lundy's Home Cooking at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, first hitting a pedestrian on the sidewalk and trapping her under the vehicle, according to an alert from Bay City News Service.   

The woman was extricated and transported to Marin General Hospital. The driver, who was not injured, was taken to San Rafael Police Department for questioning.

He was a known vendor at the farmer's market on Fourth Street, and was navigating through the closed street as the market was in progress, according to the alert.

Police responded to a report that a vehicle had slammed into a building, and found the SUV partially inside Lundy's restaurant, which was closed at the time. 

The farmer's market continued, but the block of Fourth Street has been closed for the investigation.
