Pair Sought for Alleged Jewelry Store Robbery

Police say a man simulated having a gun in his jacket, and he and an accomplice fled with more than $2,000 in cash.

are investigating an alleged robbery that occurred Saturday night at a jewelry store in the Del Prado shopping center in Ignacio.

Police said two men entered Vilma’s Jewelry at 538 Alameda del Prado and made a brief transaction with the store’s owner before one of the men simulated holding a firearm under his jacket. The men demanded money, and fled the store with more than $2,000 in cash, according to police Sgt. Jim Tross.

Police were called to the store but the men had already left. The store owner was the only other person present during the alleged robbery, police said. She was unharmed.

The suspects are described as two Hispanic males, both with long hair in a ponytail. The first suspect was described as 20 years old, approximately 5 foot, 3 inches tall and wearing a white sweater and jeans. The second suspect had a thin mustache and was approximately 200 pounds, wearing a dark jacket and white shirt. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the police at 897-4361.
