Novato Woman on Bike Wants Motor Home but Gets Jail

The following information from Aug 10–13 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

Aug 10, 9:48 p.m. –A woman on a bike came into Downtown Ignacio Tow on Galli Drive and demanded to get her mobile home back without permission and then she refused to leave.   The reporting party said he thought the woman was crazy.  The woman also refused police requests to leave.  While being taken into custody for trespassing she resisted arrest.  Incidental to the arrest she was found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

4:02 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported on Romar Court. 

8:54 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported on the 400 block of Entrada Drive.  The side of a building was tagged.

9:04 a.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported in the vicinity of Slade Park on Manuel Drive.  Red and gray spray paint was used to tag a metal equipment box on the south end of the park near the baseball backstop.  The tagging does not appear to be gang related. 

10:11 a.m. – A petty theft was reported at the bus pad in the 7300 block of Redwood Boulevard after a Hispanic man in his 20s took a red Metro PCS cell phone from a man who was sitting on a bench there.  The man was about 5-foot-3, slim and was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, jeans and a blue and white backpack.  The loss is about $100.

11:19 a.m. – A man who identifies himself as “Mark” has recently been showing up to open houses.  He says he works for a chemical company and enters the bathroom after legally entering the open house the leaves.  There is no local address for the subject and no crime.  Advice was given. 

12:13 p.m. – Solicitors that were at Paradise Foods the previous day  were reported back again and harassing customers.  The same subjects were contacted from the prior day and advised of ADA laws and of the complaint. 

1:31 p.m. – A man with cuts on his face was reported staggering down the sidewalk in the vicinity of Sixth Street and Grant Avenue.  The man had been experiencing a diabetic medical condition and was transported to Novato Community Hospital. 

2:07 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported after 5 or 6 kids were observed taking down and 8-foot satellite dish in the vicinity of Bolling Circle.  Officers contacted one and were told that he had contacted Novato Fire District and the Marin County Open Space and was advised that it was possibly discarded.  Parties were identified as the property owner could not be determined.

4:48 p.m. – A woman making suicidal threats was reported in the 100 block of Posada Del Sol.  She was sitting in a black Volkswagon with Washington plates in a parking lot.  The woman was taken for psychiatric evaluation. 

4:54 p.m. – A robbery was reported at the Shell station on South Novato Boulevard after a woman pushing a shopping cart took two candy bars.  The woman also forcibly took a bottle of ice tea from the cashier after he told her that she did not have enough money to pay for it. 

6:32 p.m. – A fraud was reported in the 1600 block of Ignacio Boulevard.  A woman said that her PIN was stolen and charges were made to her ATM card from a shoe store in Canada.  The bank told her she needed to make a report.    

9:06 p.m. – A grand theft was reported after a victim’s Specialized mountain bike was stolen from the front of the CVS on Grant Avenue.  The victim said he only left the bike for less than a minute, when he came back it was gone.  The bike was valued at $1,600.  It was black with red striping and had full suspension.  The crime was caught on surveillance. 

Aug 11 

12:021 a.m. – A driver and his passenger were cited for possession of marijuana in the vicinity of Vineyard Road and Wilson Avenue.  

8:17 a.m. – A resident in the 1500 block of Center Road reported that a woman jumped a fence and was washing in the pool.  The woman was booked for robbery and burglary. 

10:50 a.m. – A reporting party in the 400 block of Professional Center Drive said that a real estate agent from Vallejo called to verify employment on a person who never worked there.  The reporting party has copies of the forged pay stubs. 

3:51 p.m. – A hit-and-run felony was reported in the vicinity of Diablo Avenue and Novato Boulevard.  

5:26 p.m. – A burglary was reported at Radio Shack on Diablo Avenue.  A white man in his late 20s or early 30s grabbed two boxes containing security equipment and ran out of the store while the staff was not looking.  The man was last seen wearing a white button up shirt and khaki pants. He was clean-shaven with dark hair.  Loss is approximately $260. 

5:53 p.m. – Someone reported a man falling over into the street who was possibly intoxicated in the vicinity of Center Road and Diablo Avenue.  The man who was bleeding from the face was contacted at Novato Community Hospital regarding a fall on city property.  He was booked into Marin County Jail after medical clearance for an out-of-county warrant. 

5:57 p.m. – Police had been alerted to be on the look out for a man who had been reported drinking and had just got into a verbal argument with his wife.  He was driving an older white Chevy Suburban with a blue stripe and has had multiple DUIs.  He was apprehended in the vicinity of Center Road and Wilson Avenue and was booked into Marin County Jail for various charges including driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license. 

9:30 p.m. – A man was arrested an booked into Marin County Jail for public drunkenness in the 900 block of Seventh Street. 

11:27 p.m. – Vandalism was reported in front of Safeway on Diablo Avenue after a white man in his 30s rolled a concrete garbage can over and broke it.  He had long brown stringy hair and a full beard.  He was last seen wearing brown pants and a brown jacket.  Damage is estimated at $300. 

Aug 12 

1:06 a.m. – A warrant arrest was made in the vicinity of Diablo Avenue and South Novato Boulevard. 

2:21 a.m. – An assault and battery was reported by a woman who said an unknown heavy-set Hispanic man hit her in the face while she was outside in the 1000 block of Eight Street. He was about 5-foot-4 and last seen wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.  The woman said it occurred about three hours ago and that she was hit in the eye and that her head is hurting. 

8:02 a.m. – Vandalism was reported at Pioneer Park on Simmons Lane.  Half of the wooden fence around the gazebo has been torn out and the wood tossed on the roof of the gazebo. Twenty-four feet of fencing had been damaged. 

10:45 a.m. – A burglary was reported at Public Storage on Landing Court.  When a woman got to work she noticed that the doors were unlocked and that $200 of cash was missing. 

3:15 p.m. – Graffiti vandalism was reported on a fence in the 1200 block of Olive Avenue. 

3:30 p.m. – Two females were in custody after being caught shoplifting at Marshall’s. The subjects were not willing to identify themselves. 

4:01 p.m. – A white man about 30 years of age came into the UPS store on Seventh Street with a basket full of items from CVS.  He then put the items into a bag and was selling them in the parking lot in front of the DMV office. He was about 6 feet tall 150 pounds and last seen wearing tan pants and a white shirt. The area was checked but he could not be located. 

4:42 p.m. – A woman came into the barn at the Novato Horse and Pet Supply and is refusing to leave. The woman was contacted and was told that she was not wanted on the property and was advised of trespassing laws.  She was admonished and moved along. 

8:29 p.m. – An extremely intoxicated man was reported walking out of a restaurant on Seventh Street heading toward Novato Boulevard.  He was booked into Marin County Jail for public drunkenness. 

10:20 p.m. – A warrant arrest was made on Monte Vista and the person was booked into Marin County Jail. 

11:44 p.m. – A reporting party said that a home in foreclosure on Drakewood Lane appears to have people squatting in it.  He has seen a man in the driveway and he believes there are people in the house as well.  The building appeared to be secure but there are signs that someone might be staying outside.   

Aug. 13 

9:06 a.m. – A homeless encampment was reported in the vicinity of McClay Road and Nogales Court.  The reporting party believes there are people living in the creek area.  He has seen a white man in his 30s or 40s with short brown/blond hair and green and black clothing.  A man was contacted who matched the description and was advised to move along. 

11:52 a.m. – A man wearing a S.F. Giants baseball cap backward, a tank top and gray backpack was seen pushing a female around in the vicinity of Fourth Street and Grant Avenue.  He was arrested for public drunkenness. 

3:18 p.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported at San Marin High School.  A green Yamaha ATV went missing from a storage shed.  It had been taken sometime between Aug. 7 and Aug. 8. 

3:27 p.m. – A verbal disturbance was reported in front of Safeway on Nave Drive.  Two solicitors for the same cause for “no Internet sales tax” were arguing with each other at a table.  Both petition signers were contacted and moved along, as Safeway wanted them to leave. 

5:40 p.m. – A warrant arrest was made in the 100 block of San Marin Drive.  

7:10 p.m. – A warrant arrest was made in the 1300 block of Joyce Street. 

8:25 p.m. – A woman reported that her roommate just hit her. The reporting party had been drinking.  One was taken into custody for domestic battery against a cohabitant.  Neither party had visible injuries.  

10:55 p.m. – Vandalism was reported on Rebecca Way after a resident reported hearing an explosion.  A plant in a front yard was burned by a suspected cherry bomb. 

11:16 p.m. – A reporting party told to call police if he saw anyone again at an unoccupied home a Drakewood said he saw a woman sitting on a blanket in the driveway of the home.  The former homeowners were trying to get their cat. They were waiting for the cat to come to them. 

11:28 p.m. – A person was arrested for public drunkenness and a probation violation in the vicinity of First Street and Grant Avenue.
