Novato Teen Injured in 101 Car Flip

Margaret Burmingham, 17, flipped a convertible Ford Mustang on Highway 101 in Petaluma on Monday.

A crash Monday afternoon on southbound Highway 101 backed up traffic for several miles and sent a teen to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Margaret Burmingham, 17, of Novato was later identified as the driver in an article by the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

The accident occurred around 12:45pm when Burmingham, driving a convertible Ford Mustang, hit an embankment and flipped.

The crash near the Petaluma Boulevard South exit and slowed traffic to Corona Road, according to CHP. One lane was closed for about 30 minutes as crews worked to extricate the driver who was stuck inside the vehicle.

First responders had to pry the door off to free the woman, who was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
