A Novato police officer was hospitalized Tuesday night following a crash on Highway 101, officials said.

According to the Novato Police Department, the unidentified officer was riding his motorcycle north on Highway 101 when he collided for unknown reasons with another vehicle, near Atherton Ave., around 5:25 p.m.

"The officer was transported to a local hospital for non life threatening injuries and expected to be released later this evening," a Novato PD alert issued Tuesday night said.

Must be careful when splitting lanes huh, officer? Especially in the under-construction Narrows section of Hwy 101, where any experienced motorcyclist with half a brain would not split lanes.
