Novato Police Officer Hospitalized After Suspect Threw a Rock at a Business Owner

After an altercation with a business owner and police, both a suspect and officer ended up in the hospital.

The Novato Police Department received a call from a business owner Friday afternoon in the 500 block of Alameda Del Prado regarding a man who threw a large rock at him and broke a window out of the front of the business.

The suspect fled the scene as officers were arriving. The suspect, later identified as Eduardo Alvarez, 20 of Novato, was uncooperative with officers who attempted to detain him. 

While Alvarez struggled with officers two officers were assaulted and subsequently injured as a result. One of the officers was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The second officer was did not receive any immediate medical treatment. 

Alvarez was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was treated and was booked at the Marin County Jail on the above mentioned charges.
