Novato Police Holding DUI Checkpoint Today
Sobriety and license checkpoint will be held on Friday at an undisclosed time and location.
The Novato Police Department will hold a sobriety and driver's license checkpoint today at an undisclosed time and location within the city limits.
Officers will contact drivers passing through the checkpoint looking for signs of impairment and checking for proper licensing. Officers will strive to reduce delays on motorists, Novato Police Sgt. Eric Riddell said.
Penalties for impaired driving include jail sentences, and license suspensions, insurance-rate hikes, and fines and fees that can exceed $10,000.

The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the UC Berkeley Safe TREC program.
