Novato Police Hold Youth Camp
Kids in sixth through ninth grades learned about police work in the four-day camp.
The Novato Police Department held a four-day youth camp for kids in sixth through ninth grades this week that aimed to teach the Novato youths about the work that civilian and sworn law enforcement personnel at their local police station do.
Police officers interacted with the kids during the camp, teaching them in the ins-and-outs of CSI evidence collection, special response teams and the role K-9 units play in the department, among other operations.
The camp started on Monday and ended today.

The kids got a department tour and took home a youth camp t-shirt.
“This is an great opportunity for the youth of our community to have a highly interactive, hands-on training by members of our department,” said police Lt. Jennifer Welch told Patch earlier this year.

“It’s a unique way for officers and non-sworn staff to engage our youth and provide insight to the various positions within our organization.”
