Novato Police Apprehend Suspected Embezzler

Local man is under investigation for embezzling more than $100,000 worth of merchandise.

Novato Police detectives arrested 44-year-old Novato resident John Mullin Thursday morning, believing he had embezzled more than $100,000 worth of merchandise from his former employer, the Ben Davis Company.

The Ben Davis Company primarily makes “workwear” clothing and is headquartered in Novato.

According to the police, the arrest was made in the Hidden Valley Lake area after what had been an ongoing investigation. The police allege that Mullin had been stealing from his employer from April of 2008 to April of 2012.

The investigation is continuing.

There is no business more deserving of this than Ben Davis. Years ago, working as a freelance graphic designer, I completed projects for Ben Davis, only to be ripped off by the owner. I had to sue them in small claims court and won, but I was still cheated out of the full compensation by Ben Davis. Shame on Ben Davis and anyone who buys their products.

Someone should do investigative reporting and find out what happened to thje goods, as it's likely he didn't steal them for his own use, but to fence them at some store. This could get bigger.
