Novato Man Hit By Car After Tree Lighting Ceremony Saturday

The man, Roland Fuette, was walking away from the holiday event when he was struck within a crosswalk on De Long near the intersection with Sherman Avenue just before 6 p.m. Saturday when a sedan driven by a 64-year-old woman struck him while traveling west on De Long, according to . The event drew approximately 1,000 people, so dozens likely witnessed the accident.

Fuette, a member of the historical guild’s board, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Marin General Hospital, police said. Mike Read, the current president of the guild’s board, said Fuette sustained a cut to his head but is otherwise unscathed and was expected to be released Sunday.

The driver of the car that hit Fuette was interviewed and cooperated with police, officers said. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
