Novato Man Found Dead on Sonoma Coast

A 53-year-old Novato man was found dead Saturday in a vehicle that crashed off the Sonoma County coast near Bodega Bay, according to the sheriff'office.

At about 3:35 p.m., California state park rangers responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed off a cliff along state Highway 1 near Gleason Beach in Sonoma Coast State Beach park, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.

William Davis, who had been reported missing Friday with the Novato Police Department, was found dead inside the vehicle.

Investigators from the sheriff's office and the California Highway Patrol did not find evidence of skid marks or other signs of avoidance at the point that the vehicle left the roadway, according to the sheriff's office.

The cause of Davis' death remains under investigation.
