Novato Man Faces Pimping, Threats Charges

Girl who had been working as a prostitute said she wasn't allowed to stop because of a man with a gun.

An 18-year-old Novato man faces pimping and threats charges after a 16-year-old admitted prostitute contacted Marin County Sheriff's deputies to say she wanted to stop that line of work.

The Marin City girl tracked down law enforcement officials on Sept. 11 and said the man for whom she had been working since June 2011 would not let her stop working as a prostitute, sheriff's Lt. Barry Heying said. The girl said the man, who carried a gun, threatened to kill her and would take her to the Canal area of San Rafael to continue working, Heying said.

Detectives searched for Baker at addresses in Novato and Marin City before finding him at 9:17 a.m. Wednesday on Cole Drive in Marin City.
