Novato Man Arrested on Suspicion of Mail Theft

Resident saw 56-year-old Novato resident Sam Cutrufelli taking mail from a Salvatore Drive mailbox.

A Novato man was arrested last week on suspicion of taking mail from a Salvatore Drive mailbox, police said Sunday.

A resident confronted Sam Cutrufelli, 56, after he took outgoing mail from a mailbox around 1:08 p.m. on Sept. 4, according to the Novato Police.

After the victim took the mail back from Cutrufelli, he fled on foot. The victim called the police, who found Cutrufelli in the 300 block of Enfrente Road.

Cutrufelli was arrested on suspicion of mail theft and for an outstanding warrant from Sonoma County. He was booked into the Marin County Jail.

About 2 years ago somebody stole one of my utility payment letters from my mailbox, and washed out the ink and put in a bigger amount to a store. WF Bank covered my loss, but ever since I switched to electronic bill payment. It is the only way to go....very easy and quick and more secure.

Is this the father of 30 yr old Sam Cutrufelli who burglarized and shot Jay Leone in Greenbrae earlier this year?

I wonder how Jay Leone is doing. After Jay was shot it was big local news for a short time and then there was no more follow up. Patch, it might make a good story to do a follow up article on Mr. Leone and what is happening to the jerk who shot him.
