Novato Man Arrested at DUI Checkpoint for Previous Weapons Incident

Ross police found William Henry Dunger had a warrant for his arrest in San Bernardino County for unlawfully carrying dangerous weapons.

Ross police arrested a Novato man at a DUI checkpoint Saturday night after discovering he had a warrant out for his arrest, according to Officer Ken Nicholas.

William Henry Dunger, 26, was booked in Marin County Jail at 8:24 p.m. Aug. 27 on suspicion of unlawfully carrying a dangerous weapon during a previous incident. His bail was set at $350,000.

Dunger was arrested at a DUI checkpoint run by the San Anselmo Police Department that was operating between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. on westbound Red Hill Avenue, Nicholas said.

Officers stopped Dunger’s white Ford pickup at approximately 8 p.m. and found he did not have a valid driver’s license. A further check revealed that he had a warrant out for his arrest from San Bernardino County for unlawfully carrying weapons.

A spokeswoman with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's department said Dunger could face a count of manufacturing, importing or selling concealed firearms.
