Novato Man Among 2 Arrested for Attempted Burglary in Fairfax

Chief of police tracks down suspect outside of Bolinas Road home.

A Novato man was among two arrested Monday in Fairfax on suspicion of attempting to break into a home while a woman was inside dialing 911, Fairfax police said.

Antonio Roque, 30, of Novato and Amario Lara, 27, of Richmond were arrested at about 3:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Bolinas Road, said Fairfax Police Chief Chris Morin. The woman reported hearing the doorbell ring, ignoring it and then hearing people trying to enter through doors and windows.

Two officers responded and detained Lara immediately upon arrival at the house, and Morin caught Roque about two minutes later as Roque ran down Bolinas Road.

According to Morin, both suspects were interviewed and confessed to attempting to burglarize the property. Two reportedly came to Fairfax and were looking for a hillside home with open carports. If they found a house with no cars, they would target that residence, they told officers.

Both were arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on charges of attempted burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime and using false citizenship documents.
