Novato Assault Suspect Accused of Splitting Alleged Victim's Ear

A Novato man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

A Novato man suspected of splitting another man's ear during a fight has been arrested, police said.

Police responded to First Street and Grant Avenue at about 9 p.m. Sunday and found two men who had been fighting.

One of the men, identified as Luis Ariel Lopez, 27, had assaulted the other man, in his 20s, and had caused a cut on the other man's ear, according to police.

Officers arrested Lopez on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked him into Marin County Jail.

The other man was taken to Novato Community Hospital to be treated, police said.
