No Room at the Inn; More Break-Up Advice; Burglary at Retirement Community

The following information from Mar. 6 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Mar. 6

10:59 a.m. - A resident on Sunset Park said his stepdaughter threw a flower pot at a guest that was staying at their house. He requested advice and counseling for his daughter in anger management and did not want to press charges. 

11:16 a.m. - A caller reported that a grey Honda was going up and down Truman Drive. Three men got out of the car, dressed in trench coats and were going up to people's houses. The police contacted the subjects who live in Novato and they are Jehovah’s Witnesses were expressing their religious beliefs.

11:30 a.m. -  A resident of Alameda del Prado requested advice regarding problems with his girlfriend. The man says he broke up with his girlfriend but she refuses to move out and accept the relationship is over. He said she is talking badly about him and may be scratching his car. The man was advised of the temporary restraining order process and eviction process.  

12:37 p.m. - A person on Canyon Road reported a burglary occurred between 2/23 and 2/27.  Someone pried the door from a locked room at a retirement community and took a laptop and an undisclosed amount of cash.

12:41 p.m. - An extra patrol was requested at San Marin High School due to a fight between two groups of students described as Hispanic juveniles and white juveniles.

12:45 p.m. - An extra patrol was requested on Novato Boulevard near Miwok Park. There is a rumor at the school that there will be a fight at 3 p.m. at the park. Students that were involved in a fight earlier were sent home. Novato police canvassed the area and several subjects were moved along.

2:23 p.m. - A woman, 70, wearing a grey sweater and pink pants would not leave the lobby of Inn Marin after she was denied a room.  She was given a courtesy transport to the Marriott per her request.

3:27 p.m. - The woman in the previous entry is an unwanted subject in the hotel lobby of the Courtyard Marriot on Hamilton Parkway. She was unable to check-in because she does not have a valid ID. Advice was given and she planned to wait outside the hotel for a cab.

4:48 p.m. - A person on Leese Lane has an ongoing problem with a neighbor dumping leaves over the fence onto his/her property.  Advice was given on a civil matter.

6:01 p.m. - An older vehicle hit the reporting party’s car and then took off. The plate of the suspect vehicle fell off, which the reporting party picked up.  The vehicle was described as a white Chrysler Town and Country van.

6:12 p.m. - A man and young child at Hamilton were reported sitting on a box in the backyard and shooting at animals with what appeared to be a long barreled gun. Police determined that a father and son were shooting BB’s at a target in the backyard.
