Naked Man Steals a Soda at Gas Station

The following information from May 27-29 was supplied by the Novato Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

The Headliner: 

May 28, 6:30 a.m. – An indecent exposure was reported the Shell gas station in the 2000 block of Novato Boulevard.  A naked man came into the store and stole a soda.  The man apprehended and taken to Novato Community Hospital for a medical check.  The workers of a nearby group home later arrived to take custody of the man. 

May 27

3:11 a.m. – A burglary was reported at Fernando’s restaurant in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard.  

4:59 a.m. – A burglary was reported at Cagwin and Dorward Landscaping in the 1500 block of South Novato Boulevard.

9:27 a.m. – Officer(s) assisted with traffic control for a natural gas leak in the 100 block of San Andreas Drive.  Nothing further was requested by Novato Fire District of PG&E. 

10:15 a.m. – An aggravated assault was reported in the 1500 block of Center Road.  The reporting party said that a man had assaulted her in her residence. An Emergency Protection Order was issued and a complaint was filed with the DA’s office. 

11:13 a.m. – The parents of a reporting party had their vehicle broken into in Sonora.  The keys and registration were taken from their vehicle.  The reporting party requested extra patrols for the parents’ home in the vicinity of Dominic Drive. 

11:20 a.m. – A stolen vehicle was reported in the 1700 block of Marion Avenue. 

1:14 p.m. – A resident on Nave Court reported a homeless encampment behind his home.  Officer(s) made contact with two men in the creek area who had a small encampment.  They were told that if police were called again regarding their encampment they would have to leave immediately. 

2:35 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the 200 block of South Oakwood Drive.  A vacant house was broken into overnight.  No loss has been determined at this time. 

4:41 p.m. – A fraud was reported in the 600 block of Arthur Street.  The reporting party’s purse was taken out of an unlocked vehicle overnight.  A credit card was used in Rohnert Park earlier today. 

7:40 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the Safeway parking lot on Diablo Avenue.  The reporting party said that he noticed the window of his gray Mazda SUV had been smashed just as a “beat up” pickup truck left the area at a high rate of speed.  The loss is an iPhone. 

10:09 p.m. – A burglary was reported in the vicinity of Obertz Lane.  The reporting party had heard that some juveniles were going to a vacant house in the area to have a party. 

May 28 

12:21 a.m. – A juvenile disturbance was reported in the vicinity of Center Road and Kristy Court.  Three kids were seen running in and out of the bushes and all were wearing dark clothing.  Two kids were contacted who admitted to placing two bricks and a cat made of cardboard in the roadway.  They were taken to their respective homes, admonished and released to their parents. 

2:55 a.m. – A burglary was reported at the Safeway store on Diablo Avenue.  The reporting party said that two kids were seen running out of the store with a possible bottle of alcohol and into a gray Subaru in the parking lot.  License plate information was provided. 

2:57 a.m. – A man believed to have been drinking attempted to rent a room at the Best Western Inn on Alameda Del Prado.  After being denied a room he began walking toward the Wild Fox restaurant.  The man was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of being drunk in public. 

4:38 a.m. – A reporting party at the America’s Best Value Inn on Redwood Boulevard said that a fight could be overheard in a room on the third floor.  Officer(s) identified the people involved who were asked to leave my management.  The people were moved along. 

11:14 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 700 block of St. Francis Avenue.  Unknown(s) entered a victim’s locked vehicle overnight and took some $5 in change. 

12:14 p.m. – A burglary was reported on Park Crest Court.  Unknown(s) took a stereo speaker box from a victim’s vehicle overnight. 

12:26 p.m. – A possible rape was reported in the 1000 block of First Street.  A woman said she woke up with a subject this morning but the last thing she remembers was drinking at Brown’s Binyerd.  An SRT kit was completed and booked into evidence.  The victim refused an advocate. 

12:59 p.m. – An assault was reported in the 100 block of Ignacio Boulevard.  One was booked at Marin County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. 

1:05 p.m. – Officer(s) assisted the Novato Fire District with a woman who had been locked out of her house.  Her 3 ½-year-old child is inside and has asthma and will need medication(s).  The NFD forced entry to the residence.  The child was inside and all was fine.  Nothing further was requested from NPD. 

5:40 p.m. – A petty theft was reported at Peet’s Coffee in the 1700 block of Grant Avenue.  An unknown stole a tip jar from the business.  Surveillance video is available.  The loss is approximately $50. 

8:38 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported in the vicinity of Obertz Lane.  The reporting party said that there were teenagers in the backyard of a property he manages.  He was chasing two boys and a girl.  The reporting party was advised to stop.   

May 29 

9:38 a.m. – Extra patrols were requested on Hutchins Way.  Unknown(s) demolished a playhouse over the weekend. 

9:51 a.m. – A burglary was reported in the 400 block of Entrada Drive.  The rear passenger window of a victim’s white 1989 Toyota pickup truck was smashed overnight. 

10:56 a.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported on the 700 block of Plaza Amapola.  Both license plates of the reporting party’s vehicle were stolen overnight.  The plates were replaced with two other plates that do not belong to the reporting party. 

11:37 a.m. – A fraud was reported on Muroc Lake Drive.  The reporting party said that unknown(s) stole her debit card and used it in several locations.  She has paperwork from her bank. 

12:53 p.m. – A hit-and-run misdemeanor was reported in the 900 block of Front Street.  The suspect vehicle was seen last heading toward Vallejo Street.  The car was backing out when it hit the reporting party’s vehicle.  The driver yelled at the reporting party and left the area in a silver Toyota Camry.  Plate information was provided. 

7:07 p.m. – A patient walked into the emergency department at Novato Community Hospital and said that she wanted to hurt herself.  She was placed on a hold for psychiatric evaluation and transported to Marin General Hospital.  

9:30 p.m. – Suspicious circumstances were reported on Mather Court.  A Marin mountain bike with dual suspension, 21-speed, black with orange forks and red handlebars was stolen last Friday from San Francisco.  The reporting party found the bike being sold on Craigslist.
